Author Emmanuèle Bernheim and 87-year old director Alain Cavalier are linked by 30 years of close friendship.They plan a movie based on Bernheim's autobiographical novel, Tout s'est bien passé, recounting her father's request for assisted suicide following a serious cardiovascular episode. Cavalier suggests that Bernheim plays herself in the film while he the role of her father. But fate has other plans... the film shoot will be delayed since Emmanuèle must undergo immediate emergency surgery. The solace of friendship becomes vital... Cavalier's unique voice meditates on art, friendship, life and death, a surprisingly light look on a heavy subject, elegantly and intelligently expressed.
