I was really surprised by The Walk. I love Robert Zemeckis, but the trailers for this film were a little rediculous. Well, I'm happy to say that The Walk is the best feel-good movie of the year so far!
The acting all around was fantastic. Joseph Gordon-Levitt was really charming and charismatic as Philippe Petit. The rest of the supporting cast all gave good performances.
I really enjoyed the story. It's like Ocean's Eleven but with stunts. The first hour was spent on backstory and character development, and it really worked. The tone of the film was consistently light-hearted and inspirational. The pace was also supersonic, and I never got bored.
The cinematography and effects are some of the absolute best of the year. I'm not scared of heights, but I got queezy sometimes. This film is definitely worth seeing in IMAX 3D.
Overall, The Walk is a light-hearted, inspirational and awe-inspiring film with beautiful cinematography and a great sense of humour and fun. See it on the biggest screen possible!
