    The Virgin Spring

One of Bergman's most daunting tales starring a young Max von Sydow as a father who will go to any lengths to exact vengeance. It's a good movie but so dark and heavy whose main theme is as relevant today as in any day or age. It came as no surprise that The Virgin Spring won the Oscar as Best Foreign Film in 1960 but my choice would have been KAPO from Italy which hit me like a thunder stroke.
