    The Talented Mr. Ripley

Well! I saw the perfect gem of a movie that had me hooked and wound up tight as a drum from the start, THE TALENTED MR. RIPLEY. This great film from a 1955 English novel stars a whole slew of young actors who have now all made it REALLY BIG, the likes of Matt Damon, Jude Law, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Blanchett and the late Philip Seymour Hoffman... all OSCAR Winners as of 2014 except for the talented Jude Law. You have never seen Matt Damon so menacing, actually terrifying. This crime drama/thriller takes place for the most part in Italy, Damon hired as the film begins to bring home his friend, Jude Law. The wayward son of a very wealthy family. This is just the opening. What ensues is literally a nightmare of deceit, lies and mayhem to the extreme. Aside from all this we get to see some of the most iconic places in Italy, almost a travelogue. This was one hell of a fantastic film which you must see though it is now 15 years old. The colour cinematography of all things Italian is simply breathtaking whether on land or water. You will be freaked out by this chilling plot, so ironic as it all happens under the sunniest skies of Italy.
