    The Revenant

This movie was boring. The cinematography was good, sometimes very good, but the story lacked depth, as did the characters. Young Bridger and the Captain were the two most interesting characters, but Fitzgerald and Glass were totally one note. I have now watched almost all the best picture candidates, just Mad Max to go, and this was by far the worst. Living near the mountains I am familiar with the weather and the landscape, and the frequent changes in weather and landscape, often mid-scene really strained my sense of credibility. And when tracking someone in three foot deep snow only to have it changed to melted down packed snow 15 feet away doesn't sit well with my own experience. I think the academy should reimburse my wife and I the $20 we spent to watch this movie.
