The Armenian genocide is well known by anyone who has an inclination to read. I'm surprised how many found this film a revelation. The film is one with great big intentions but these very intentions tend to weigh it down. Most will find the movie powerful but this feature becomes a big, empty wartime romance approaching this genocide with too much calculation. Other wartime romances have fared better. But the film does have some merit and I did not dislike it altogether.
