I am assuming everyone watched the movie by now so here is my comment. Hmmm... well... it was ok. I did had high expectation about it and watched it twice... well... I was... in between happy and un-happy. First, the story was way better than the star wars trilogy with jar jar binks that is for sure. 2nd. Special effects were finally better and more practical effects were implemented. Excellent. 3rd. All the actors were credible and convincing. Daisy Ridley was very good. Harrison Ford always and still has his touch! I was so happy to see him with Chewbacca. Boyega and Adam Driver were Fantastic in their respective roles as well. Carrie Fisher has the same cute look (even for her older age) still hot! Now here's where things went a little bit astray... the lightsaber fights... (spoiler alert).. at the end, I found it quite "strange" that Rey (Ridley) happened to be suddenly out of blue... a skilled lightsaber fighter when she fought Kylo Ren... I mean... ok... but... there was nothing within the storyline that explained to us how she happened to be so skilled... so... I was quite surprised and... disappointed since I hate it when people just become good at something there are not even acquainted yet with... un-logical to me. Same thing with Fin... how did he learn to handle a light saber so fast within the movie? It makes no sense to me. Also, there was some jokes that were too "cute" a la "Disney" style (duh... it's Disney) I know... but again... it was getting too close to "Jar Jar Binks" dark side... example (spoiler alert again) When Kylo Ren got angry that Rey disappear... the the guard show up to suddenly back out because they heard some scary lightsaber noise closeby... that was funny but... too "cute funny". I don't like cute funny. Not for star wars. Same thing with Rey mind control power on that stromtrooper guard. The last request on leaving the gun behind was a "tip" too much of a joke that could've been dimmed to simple and not to "Annndd I leave my gun here..." seriously, the way he said it was meant to be funny... and again, I don't have anything against jokes... but here... he pushed the "way he said it" in a way that obliged us to laugh. You guys know what I mean? Jokes should be "not" be intended... but should be "not-intended". Way more funny to me. But again... it's Disney right? -_- The CGI was pretty good at start. BUt the little old lady in the tavern and Lord Snoke were just too (again) pathetically misused. It looked like the The Hobbit trilogy infamous CGI by peter Jackson who got tired of practical effects I guess. Not a happy camper here. And as for the Tavern... omg... the music... it was awful... I mean why would they put jazz music? Like seriously? I prefer the old alien-jazz-type music from star wars 4 back in the tavern when Luke first met Han Solo. That was way better. Also, in the tavern, everyone seemed too concerned to be within the camera... like... everyone wanted to shine although they are supposed to be figurants... seriously? Wow... now for the final battle. Well... it was ok... I like the tie vs x wings battle that was epic! But, I didn't like the fact that an X WING shot a stormtrooper so that this stormtrooper simply get knock back... I mean, if you were to receive a laser beam shot from an x wing... I would expect to kinda... blow up? Not simply get knock back? Like seriously? Wow... As for the final ending (spoiler alerts again) wow... when Rey simply meets Luke at the mountain (first of all... the idea of the island was not that good... reminded me of a province New Brunswick where I live nearby... wasn't epic at all...) when Rey met Luke... it was... weird... I mean... In my head, I was expecting Luke to show up and go berserk with the force to help Rey and Fin during the last lightsaber battle... that would of been amazing... but nooo... Luke was hiding the whole time on a mountain lost island that looked like Brave Heart's Mel Gibson home town for "FREEEDDOMMM"... if you know what I mean. I was not really happy to see Luke only at the end... really not. I paid to actually see him more... but nope. You only get to see him at the end and he doesn't even talk... wow... fail... For that, I give it a 6.5 on 10. Sorry, but JJ should stick to Star Trek... and Disney should stop suggesting funny cute jokes to the Scriptwriter. Seriously, this is close to being as fail as Jar Jar Bink cute jokes. I don't like that. But overall... I was satisfied since it was way better then the last trilogy by George Lucas. I am sorry for him that he got older and lost his touch... I mean... all the star wars from 3-4-6 was so epic and so good... I mean... even the jokes were funny even if they were not intended to be funny... wow... I miss that George Lucas... what happened to him... :(
