Considered quite a diverting film in its day, Slap Shot starring Paul Newman still wallops a punch especially for really nutty hockey fans. The whole film almost becomes a metaphor of "better things" to come as perhaps the reshaped hockey team and its success will come to mean better things for the town. Down to its grass roots of minor hockey, the whole deal with the Hanson Brothers and just the crassness of it all will give you plenty to laugh about. Perhaps a bit over the edge!
