This spring's historical student protests in Quebec are currently leading to a profound reflection on the history of protests and citizen's contestations that has allowed democracy to survive these past few centuries. From this year's red square, we can think back to the red flag that was used as a symbol during the Paris Commune, a two-month uprising against the government that is too often left out of history books, but that can remind one of the actual situation in many different ways.
