Whether through sensationalism or misplaced guilt, relations between Québécois and First Nations are usually characterized by tension, rancour and inequality. And yet common ground, shared values and interconnection do exist. Aren't the ideas of community, freedom and solidarity, deeply ingrained in Quebec's collective consciousness, inherited from the aboriginal societies encountered by settlers and passed down through co-existence and blood ties? With Roy Dupuis as our guide, along with anthropologist Serge Bouchard, poet Joséphine Bacon, psychoanalysts, community workers, economists and historians, Carole Poliquin and Yvan Dubuc invite us on a rich, multifaceted exploration of the roots of Quebec's unique identity.
