'Noz w wodzie' is one of Roman Polanski's earlier but great films nominated for an Oscar Foreign film back in 1962. What starts as a yacht trip turns to horrific terror because of a stranger picked up and asked on board, now vying for the woman on shipboard. With a storm brewing, all three are forced down in the cabins as a psychological thriller explodes. Polanski's script and camera work catch a claustrophobic effect that becomes precarious in any number of ways as emotions become frightfully strained.
