One of my favourite films based on the very well known French novel: " Le Journal d'un Curé de Campagne by Georges Bernanos who was a scrupulous, good Catholic. Bresson does an excellent job in keeping the film in the Bernanos spirit while showing a very strong flair for directing. He handles the actors very well. This is a book of faith and religion, but, no matter, the young curé has his work cut out for him as he takes on his new duties at times with much turbulence in his soul! A wonderful film to visit from way back in 1951 if one has a strong sense of film history.
