The Grinch lives high in the mountains with his loyal dog, Max. He totally despises the Whos and their happiness. He comes up with a plan to dress and Santa and steal all of the trinkets and bangles and boxes, thinking that the happiness is from the material possessions. He sneaks down to the Who's houses on Christmas Eve and steals everything. He takes it to the highest peak so that he can listen to their sobs in the morning when they realize everything is gone. He then gets the shock of his life. The Who's come out of their houses and sing, thankful for Christmas day to arrive. The Grinch gets a change of heart when he realizes that material possessions aren't what makes people happy, instead just the feeling of love inside. He brings the goods back to the town and shares the rest of the holiday with the Who's.
