Hercules (2014) follows Hercules as he leads an army to take down an evil warlord. Now, I wasn't too excited for Hercules. The trailers looked horrible and I hate Brett Ratner. Well, I was actually fairly surprised with this extremely fun action extravaganza. Hercules is exactly what you'd expect it to be. It's a dumb action flick with incredibly awesome action and horrible dialogue. Dwayne Johnson plays Hercules quite well and flexes his muscles through this entire film. He executes the awful dialogue hilariously well and makes the movie all the more fun. The rest of the supporting cast are just okay; nothing special in any way. The plot is actually quite good, with some twists that I didn't see coming. The best part of this movie is the cinematography and the action. The action was incredibly well executed and was very entertaining. There were a few scenes where my mouth dropped. The cinematography was beautiful and the special effects were incredible. The 3D was actually very well used and was probably one of the best uses of it this year. Obviously, this movie is nowhere near perfect. The dialogue and writing were laughably bad, the plot was predictable, some jokes missed, some acting was awful and the movie felt very short. Overall, Hercules is a fun surprise that I would recommend to action buffs and people looking for good, dumb entertainment. RATING: 7/10.
