    Edward II

This 1991 film by the great Derek Jarman is an "X" film based on the great Shakespearean like play EDWARD II by Christopher Marlowe. This is visually a very graphic look at the homosexuality of the King and his lover Piers Gaveston. The sex scenes are hard to take as well as the torture scenes involving hideous sexual torture. The King can not be persuaded on a better life style and thus his down fall is plotted. Steven Waddington, Andrew Tiernan, Tilda Swinton and Nigel Terry will make your blood run cold. Catch a cameo of the very young Brian Stokes Mitchell. Be for warned that this is a very adult film which won't be to many adult tastes. It's a difficult film to navigate. Historically, one gets a brilliant idea about Edward II, but I doubt anyone can say this film is entertaining. The entire court. Its perversions and machinations are all rather frightening.
