This is the best World War 2 movie since Enemy at the Gates. I have seen the Battle of Berlin many times, done by Hollywood. I am a history and WW2 buff, however found those movies boring, and therefore found the battle disinteresting. This German version brings it to life. Dealing with the humanity of suicide and the end, instead of just the statistics. The hard to watch climax being the scene with the Goebbels family. I did find at times that if you knew your history you would get more out of the story. They assume you know things which make the story flow instead of explaining them. But still go, even if you did not study the war, you still will be stunned by the basics. AND it connects to the relevance of today. Watch for the final thoughts of Traudl. It made me think of Bush's Iraq war for oil, while little action for genocide in Sudan. If you see two movies this year, make them this one and Hotel Rwanda..
