Chef is one of the happiest and most joyful movies I've ever seen in my entire life. I had a stupid smile on my face from the first scene to the credits. Walking in, I didn't know what to expect. Walking out, I was hungry as a dog and as happy as I've been in a very long time. The plot follows Carl Casper, a chef who loses his job and decides to drive a food-truck around the country with his 10-year-old son. The cast includes Jon Favreau, John Leguizamo, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlet Johanson, Dustin Hoffman and Sofia Vergara. This movie has probably one of the best casts of this year. The acting in this film is spot-on. Jon Favreau, who also wrote and directed this movie, has a funny and believable performance as Carl. The supporting cast were all equally funny and fun to watch, especially the kid. I usually have a problem with child actors, but this kid was so charming and funny that I honestly want to see more of him. The story of this movie is simple yet totally awesome. Though it may be a little predictable, it is always lots of fun to watch the plot unravel. Jon Favreau did such an amazing job directing this movie that I was actually quite surprised. He used social media in this film in a way that enhanced the movie experience. The real highlights here are the joyous soundtrack and the brilliant writing. The latino soundtrack was so uplifting that I bought it immediately when I returned home. This film was also very well written, with frequent hilarious jokes and believable dialogue. Overall, Chef is one of the biggest surprises of the year. It is funny, joyous, emotional and always fun to watch. See it ASAP!!! RATING: 9.6/10.
