Melville's great semi crime film stars disgraced matinée idol of the 1930's in the way of Roger Duschene... disgraced by suspicions of his wartime associations with the Nazis! An aging gambler or FLAMBEUR plans one last grift that wil bank roll his comfy retirement. What makes it all so special is how Melville ( real name Grumbach ) takes his camera to the streets to show us the real gritty life of the Parisian under belly.
