Belle et Sébastien is a film French speaking Canadians should not miss. It is absolutely wonderful for the youngsters; the adults will enjoy it as much. It all happens in the beautiful Alps in 1943 German occupied France, the German presence and brutality kept to an absolute minimum. What is truly important here is the life of the sweetest young lad and the great companion he finds in a huge stray, BELLE. It's a heartwarming sincere little film. It's impossible NOT to fall in love with Félix Bossuet who plays the lonely boy. Reading age English speaking Canadian children will adore this as well even though sub-titles might be something new for them. The whole story-line and events of Belle et Sébastien is an experience you and your children will adore. The humanity is absolutely touching, so genuine. It's as if you, the spectator, become part of that whole 1943 experience. The beauty of this film with summer and winter mountainous scenes is breathtaking. By the way this is a French film, not a French-Canadian film.
