I had a lot of fun with American Ultra. It's by no means a great movie (even say it's a good movie is a bit of a stretch), but I was entertained the entire time. Jesse Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart are great and have surprisingly amazing chemistry. The action scenes are brutal and hilarious, but also well filmed. There are a couple of jokes that hit, but the best part about the writing was the dramatic moments that somehow work. The pace is also really fast and the whole movie goes by quickly.
Unfortunately, I laughed only two times in this movie. Maybe it was because there just weren't many jokes, but I expected to laugh way more. The plot is also predictable and the tone is very uneven.
Overall, though, American Ultra is a good time at the movies. The acting is great and the two leads have good chemistry, but don't go in expecting Schindler's List. Rent/stream it.
