Did I just go to Lord of the Spartans? If it were called that, I’d give it a higher mark. There was way too many comic book freaks, and inaccuracies and mistakes to make this movie quality. And to those who will respond that it isn’t historical, it is based on a book or comic, I answer that makes a BOOK, a COMIC AND A MOVIE that are historically wrong. I stopped counting the errors at around a dozen. Additionally I felt cheated. That I paid the ticket price and got American Propaganda. I can see the political complaints about this movie. I rolled my eyes at the ease the term “Freedom” was thrown around over and over again. Okay, you are Spartan. Society would ostracize your family if they didn’t kill you at birth at any sign of weakness. You are taken from your family at 7, beat-up and raped and starved. You are encouraged to steal food to eat, but you would be punished if caught – punished for getting caught. Your parents would rather see you die in battle than shamed in battle. All this, and they are “Free”? Hype only an American would believe. The same goes with barbarian verses civilized. The fight scenes looked amateurish. Not Spartans fighting. It was like the writer, actors, and director were all amateurs.
