It brought a feeling to the audience that it was alright to have fun. Not just sit there but become part of the entire crowd. No need to be quiet or hide your reaction. Also makes you feel like your part of a crowd from the 70's ish era.

Before this one came out, I really wanted to see it. Then, upon its release, I changed my mind. But I finally caved in, and I am happy I did. It is a good movie, and it is worth seeing. That being said, it's not as easy to review as your typical movie, as this is an entire movie watching experience, from the "fake trailers" and old-time moviescreen graphics, to the "used quality of the film reel". And of course, how can we forget the fact that there are two different movies to consider. The fake trailers rocked! They were both funny and just plain as far-fetched as can be. Bravo for those!!! Watching a movie with streaks and splotches and missing reels, just like in the old days, well that was just priceless. Kudos for re-creating the video quality of way back when... we live in the day and age of digital this and dolby that, ear-shattering sound with eye-blinding picture crispness... This was such a trip down memory lane. Awesome idea!!! And finally, last but not least, the 2 movies themselves. Yes, after all that, we must talk about the whole purpose of going to see Grindhouse... the movies: Planet Terror and DeathProof. I really enjoyed Planet Terror. It was a great zombie massacre movie! It's funny, it's gory, and it's just plain good old fashioned style movie watching! Good pace, memorable scenes, and an overall great cast. I did not enjoy DeathProof as much. I found it to be a lot slower, much more lazy on the delivery and entertainment. I am going to piss a lot of people off, but Tarantino's obsession with dialogue has gotten in the way of his ability to continue delivering well-paced storylines. I found Rodriguez' approach to Planet Terror much better than Tarantino's take on DeathProof. Even Kurt Russell's turn as a kind of "Snake-ish" hero doesn't save this one. DeathProof is the only reason my overall rating is a 7/10. I figure 10/10 for the old-days look and feel to the whole package, 8/10 for Planet Terror, and 4/10 for DeathProof... averages out to a 7/10 for the whole enchilada!!!

I am a big fan of slasher movies and zombie movies, but to me this really crossed the line. I watched 45 minutes of the movie and had to stop the DVD. I couldn't finish it. It was disgusting beyond the point that my brain could withstand. I'm so glad I didn't pay to see this is the theatre because I would have had to walk out.

This movie was amazing. Taratino's "Death Proof" shows his masterful use of dialogue followed by a mind blowing climax. If you think you've seen all the possibilities with car chases, you haven't. "Planet Terror" wasn't as good, but still funny and campy. Check it out, if you can, as a double feature- the fake trailers are absolutely hilarious.

Great movie. Rodriguez's part is more entertaining than Tarantino's, whose film seems a bit unfocused and, ultimately, kindof boring. The total package is great, especially with the fake trailers and stuff. Good times.

Both Rodriguez and Tarantino's films are belonging to the era of the grindhouse cinema: the dated jokes, the scratchy film. But both are done very professionally to look that way. They took their time and releases one of the best experiences, ever, for a theatrical audience. D.

Wow, just awesome. You'll love it even more spotting references to their other movies thru it all."Planet Terror" is hilariously gory."Deathproof" is Tarantino at his best, with great dialogues and jaw dropping action.

A masterpiece; moving away from the normal "Hollywood" fare, the directors manage to both parody and make an homage to the 70s grindhouse films they depict. The fake trailers only add to the atmosphere. Just dont be like the ignorant people that left after the first half because they thought it was 1 movie.

To begin with, I would like to say that this movie was a great movie. Not quite a masterpiece, but a great movie nonetheless. Planet Terror was very original because Rodriguez knows how to capture an audience's attention from start to finish by adding funny commercial breaks. This gives the audience a chance to have a few laughs in the midst of a gory horror flick. However, Tarentino's movie was somewhat different in that it focused more on dialogue and witty script rather than action and gory violence. I would have given the movie a higher rating, although because Deathproof could have had a better ending with more thought put into it, I will rate this potential masterpiece as a great movie. 8/10 all the way!

My grandson took me as I have always been a fan of horror ever since I was a young girl and saw the wolfman for the first time. I think overall Death Proof was better but both films combined with the trailers was a lot of fun.

Don't see it if you analyze every movie to death and are looking for something meaningful. And I am guilty of doing that, but going into this movie I was just looking for having a good time. Which I DEFINITELY did! Hilarious, scary, gross, it really was a great "exploitation" film.

This is what a movie experience should be like. It was so wrong, so disturbing, so funny- it was perfect. You go through all the emotions, edge of your seat and all, and then you realize there is still another movie to watch. Killer deal.

Planet terror: First you are shocked, then saturated and after you begin to laugh, you won't stop till the end... Death Proof: More about talks, exchange. I love the way the director loves women. And then action, cars, boom!!! And action again. If you get bored, don't leave, the ending is fantastic.

Not Sin Cityesque but worth seeing it. The fake previews are hilarious. If you've seen From dusk till dawn, you'll probably feel the same way about Grindhouse you felt seeing it.

Grindhouse, well where do I start, two very talented directors taking an idea of 70's expliotation movies to a new low. Way too violent, no need for it, and it's not all cartoonish violence. One of the problems it's way too long and boring in parts. The worst thing a film can do is bore you too death. The film is too long and should have been cut down or at least have an intermision between the films (hey, like they did in th 70's) Some of the best stuff in the film are the fake trailers, the scratched film look, missing reels, fake bad camera work and editing. The film is an interesting idea, but unfortunately not an interesting film.

I loved it, planet terror it was just pointless comedy violence and that never wears thin. The trailers hobo with a shotgun, machete, and the marvaluos title wearwolf women of the ss oh how I laughed, as for death proof it did put me on edge alot which was great and I thought Kurt Russel just stole the show get that man in more films.

OMG... Did I see Grindhouse? I went after being mercilessly pestered by a friend. I had no desire to see this movie, and I was in a pissy mood. Sometimes you should follow your gut, and sometimes your gut is a god damned opinionated moron! I LOVED this movie. I mean LOVED this movie. It was cheesy, grotesque, and horrifically violent which is everything I hate in a movie. The chemistry of this film was such that I was mesmerized, horrified, galvanized and completely squirming in my seat. There was no discernible reason for me to love this film so much. It was hilariously over the top and unapologetically sophomoric. It's the cinematic equivalent of a 13 year old boy. Death Proof was amazing... Yes there were long drawn out conversations and they felt vaguely voyeuristic but wait for it... The pay off is well worth the wait. I loved the overlay of male machismo over the pretty girl eye candy. AWESOME ending to the flick! BRAVO! I was sorely disappointed that I waited so long to see it at the show, I wanted to drag my friends in to see it and I missed the fun of watching THEM wallow in the delightfully degenerative experience.

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.]
The movie / the double-pack certainly has its own flair. I Particularly enjoyable I found the fake movie trailers between the two features. The movies themselves... Hm... Rodriguez' zombie thriller is simply a bit too disgusting. Alright, I realize that's what most horror buffs like; personally I was more fascinated by some of the overly grotesque elements (flying girl with machine gun leg etc.), not necessarily by the mass of blood and entrails. Even though (or perhaps precisely because) it was so so much slower paced, I liked Tarantino's movie much better. Great Austin-atmosphere and good acting by Kurt Russell. (Nice too see him as a psychopath!)

AWESOME!!! PLANET TERROR is a full on, over the top gore-fest with tons of action. Just too cool! DEATH PROOF had some great action (even though I would have liked to see more action) and Lots of dialogue. You have to really apreciate Tarantino to appreciate the dialogue. Terrific! All the fake trailers were fantastic!"Machete"was really cool," Werewolf Women Of The SS" was fun," Don't" was hysterical and "Thanksgiving" was insane. Don't miss Grindhouse!!

I know this was RR and QT's tribute to the old B-movies of the 70's and 80's. I loved RR's Planet Terror. It delivered on all levels. If you wanted over-the-top gore, with over acting and bad editing, then this is your movie. I was thoroughly amused from start to finish. QT's 'Detah Proof' is another story though. The great dialogue the QT is famous for delivering in his previous movies, was not enough to carry Death Proof from start to finish. The end result was a tedious second half to the double feature.

Tarantinos love for color shots combined with Rodiriguez love for violence makes this feature a movie not to be missed. Even thought the second part is a little slow if you indulge yourslef in a little kick from the 60's before the movie you will be able to enjoy it much more.

Tarantino and rodriguez are the most over rated directors in the industry. And in this movie, 3 hours of non stop non sense! The chick with the machine gun as a leg! How does she fire the riffle, with her telepathic powers? Give me a break. Lousy movie, lousy directors, I'm fed up of these two, their movies are always rip offs of some other directors previous work. Tarantino was at one point ripping off scorcese, then kung fu movies, now it's the horror genre. Wow, good job. And as for rodriguez, there really isn't much to say. [...]

Add a little 'pinch' of Rodriguez with a 'dash' of Tarantino and who get MAGNIFICENT. Although it is a given that Tarantino's "Death Proof" is destined to be great, it is a very nice addition to have Rodriguez's "Planet Terror" right up there with it. I think most people would agree that more directors NEED to work alongside Tarantino if they wish to be great. A must-see film(s) for anyone who has good taste in movies!!!

Worst movie ever, with washed up, back from "retirement" actors... Very misleading as Bruce Willis and Kurt Russell are NOT the main characters... And whats with Tarantino's random cameos? Terrible. AVOID if you actually like to use your brain during a movie... And not sit like passive creatures.

I'll just say this: "Death Proof" was one of the most entertaining and memorable movies I've seen in my life. When reading these reviews, you have to keep in mind that most people have a relatively low IQ and that the majority of you don't really know how (or care) to listen.

Fantastic! Just pure entertainment. Planet terror is a laugh riot but Death proof is the main event for sure, it's a lot slower but entertaining all the same. Ad on Kurt Rusell's great performance, two wicked payoffs and an ultra hilarious ending and you've got yourself an instant "cheessy" classic.

This film was absolutely brilliant and I'm really angry that it's tanking at the box office. Tarantino's film, though it has a few pacing issues, is actually quite a work of art. It's excellently written, funny, action packed and very stylish. The fake trailers will become legendary at some point. Despite these nifty qualities, Planet Terror is the sole reason that anyone should see this. It's a pure epic gross-out. Fun for the whole mutated family!

THINK FOR YOURSELF. Watch Tarintino's piece with an open mind and don't believe the hype. His offering is different from the first and this is a good thing. There are strong female characters and great dialogue. It calls on the viewer to have an attention span greater than a six year old. I think Tarintino is suffering from what we hockey fans call Gretzky syndrome. You reach the top of your profession and it becomes in vogue to tear you down. I believe people are walking into the theatre already prepared to hate Tarintino's offering no matter what they see. Great effort from both writers. Just different.

Great Stuff. This double bill is a No-Brainer for Tarantino fans. I had a lot of laughs at some very sick stuff and am still amused by the whole experience. Cannot compare the movies as they are very different and clever in their own ways. If you like all genres of movies there is a laugh or two for ya here.
