I don't think Jim Carrey has REALLY come into his own as a consumate performer, quite yet, but this is as close as he's gotten, so far. No question that the 'research' he did into Kaufman's characterization is practically impeccable, but in the end, he too fell prey to the after-taste effect Andy Kaufman left in all our opinions: too sappy. Once Courtney Love gets over her self-consciousness on film, she could handily make a second creditable career of acting.
