Interesting and fun to watch. I just wish there would have been more things happening on the political level, and less on the personnel and drugs level...

I thought this movie was excellent. The contents were disturbing but the way the story was told was excellent. Both our children (age 10 and 12) watched this and it moved quick enough and the story engaged them. I strongly recommend.

Well the movie is all good, , good storyline, some good performances, at some points it reminds you the Johny dep flick "blow" like carrying drugs in charterd plane remember? And in this movie carrying guns and dilvering them into other parts of world... the women betrying thing? Like in blow, , getiing blowed up by the women u love most hehe... kind of predicatable at some points... but still there is a lot of potential in storyline which keeps your intrest in the movie... and nic Cage done justice with his role., , overall a good movie in the year 2005.

Fabulous. Real. Opens our eyes to what is hidden from us deliberately.

Great movie, amazing visuals and great acting. This movie will make you think and hopefully be more aware of what's happening elsewhere in the world. Go see it bring your friends, discuss...

Edmund Burke got it wrong, and now it’s the Lord of War’s turn: Evil does not "abound for good men do nothing", nor does evil simply "prevail", as Yuri Orlov (aka ‘the Lord of War’) states at the start of this movie, painfully misquoting poor Burke. Yet director Andrew Niccol wastes not time in setting the record straight: Evil abounds because 'good' men do something, alright--they form security councils, in an apparent effort to keep the 'evil' out of their (and our) backyards. Though British philosophy might not be his forte, Niccol obviously knows a thing or two about modern world politics, as his flick deftly reveals one of the greatest hypocrisies of our time--that the five permanent members of the UN Security Council (the US, France, Britain, China, and Russia) are also the world’s biggest arms dealers. (Did you get that? The members of this "Security Council" are the root of much, if not most, of our world's insecurity! ) To borrow another philosophers saying (Thoreau): "There are a thousand hacking at the branches of evil, when one is striking at the root". But what can be done when we discover WE are the root? Similes and pretty quotes aside, this movie is effective because its message is clear: we must find a way to stop our governments from selling megatons of arms to poorer countries. To remain philosophically apolitical, like Orlov, is to risk losing the only things that truly matter (our collective conscience, to name but one) Yuri's brother, Vitaly, and the indefatigable Interpol agent Jack Valentine (Ethan Hawke) are what make this movie worth seeing. Lets just say they both demonstrate that even evil can have a bad day. ;) I give this movie a seven, because I very much enjoyed just sitting there, watching this disturbing movie... and thats the problem, isnt it? Peace. [...]

Good intentions, overshadowed by a hollywood style perspective. This film could have been so much more if the moral message had been lain out quite plainly. Somewhere between a documentary and a Nicolas Cage action flick. I left the film feeling like guns had been glorified and not deplored as the filmmakers intention may have been.

Wicked, wicked, wicked!!! This was such a compelling movie, I've seen it like 3 times now and I loved it each time. Nicolas Cage plays the part to perfection and his interactions with Chris Odonelle are always intense. This felt both educational, but at the same time entertaining.

A good story about an important issue. Cage was well cast in the role. While it may be a bit slow for some people it does move along at a pretty steady pace. I think the most important theme presented by the movie was of a profiteer justifying his actions by the "If I didn't do it someone else would" reasoning. Maybe it would have been possible to present an alternative to that reasoning. One way or another it a well done movie and Cage's narration made it quite a bit lighter than it otherwise would have been.

Excellent movie and a must see. The topic is serious and it's revealed the gun trafficing going on in the world.

I thought that this movie was incredible. It is based on true events, and it depicts a very thought-provoking image of gun runners and where they fit into our world of violence. The acting was damn fine (really, Nicholas Cage was at his best), and the supporting cast was just incredibley suited to their roles. Overall, I give it two thumbs up. If you've seen the movie crash, and that really touched you in a way that not many movies can, then I highly recommnend this one!

Someone should make copies of this movie and give to every country's leader and all fighting factions in every place in this world and hopefully they may get the message and then do something to stop the human carnage taking place in the world today.

Was a good movie but the plot could have been more elaborate. It was too predictible. Also, I left feeling as if there was something missing. The movie doesn't exactly satisfy you to the fullest but still a good movie.

What a waste... Spectacular cinematography and good acting and directing... all layered over a very weak storyline, tired old themese, and an unnecessarily cynical outlook that we're supposed to knowingly nod in agreement with, because we're experienced adults, people of the world, and "we know how things work, dont' we! " (cynical snort wink) The producers try to give the movie some credibility at the end, with the words "based on true events"... notice the clever marketing: "events", not a true "story". Those "events" may be as simple as "yes, arms dealers exist in the world", and "yes, they get away with breaking the law". ooo. Revelation. I left not just disappointed, but well into the "upset". Don't bother seeing it, even on DVD. Unless you're gullible.

Amazing movie - shows a lot of things that people are not aware of - not as dramatic as Hotel Rwanda but equaly moving, should make you think about some things after you get out of the cinema. N. Cage is far far away from being my favourite actor but this movie was just amazing. Go see it! NoooW!

I am not a great fan of Nicolas Cage but it did not stop from enjoying the movie. This movie was a glimpse of what has been happening for centuries. It reminded of the me of the reasons to invade Iraq: war=money=war. From the first scene to the end, I hated guns, bullets, war and the people involved in it.

I didn't think this movie had much of a story line to it. Nicholas Cage was really good in the movie... he is one of my favorite actors. I thought that the movie could have more of a story to it other than this guy who just starts exporting guns all over the world.

This movie was excellent. Nicholas Cage is truly brilliant, not only in this movie (really good acting) but in alot of the previous movies. This movie was made sort of like constant gardenar but unlike the constant gardener it is much beder and made more interestingly, both movies had a good theme but this one was well made. This movie is a must see for all people 13 and over. It is a must see!!!

I know the number 7 seems low, but the criteria says "good movie, worth seeing", which in my opinion applies to Lord of War. Is it great? NO! This is not a typical movie, it reminded me a bit of Wag the Dog. It feels more like a documentary embedded within a drama. Nicolas Cage is very good. Some people will love this movie and some will hate it. There are some moments when the action is very slow, but it's all about Cage's character. Actually when I think of different aspects of the film (cinematography, score, etc... ) I want to give it a 10 on 10 or even 9 on 10... but if I am giving an overall evaluation, then I'll stick with my 7.

Politically, this movie follows world events accurately, and portrays a gun runner really well, very cold.

This was an excellent movie. Documentary/action. Good story, great acting. Quick footnote for gangesters2002. If you're between the ages of 18-25 and were in the Gulf War in 1990, then you were somewhere between the ages of 3 and 10. Guess the army really IS short staffed.
