Oh God... the movie is told from beginning to end on the same level - horrible! The host is about aliens who took over the human bodies. They come in peace so they say but of course they want to occupy every human. One of the alien host can't take over the mind of a person and will help out the human (Melanie) it inhabits towards helping her family and friends. The movie is dull , long and tedious to watch! Avoid at all costs - The script of this movie is inhabited by a lifeless story with bad acting!

Not as good as the book but still good, I have seen it twice.

I thought that the movie was great! I liked the idea of the story and found it interesting. Just the romance was a little much for my liking... Well, there was a lot of kissing. Overall, you should go see it.

I like the message on this movie. It is well done and have some need effects.

While the boy/girl attractions and expressions of love are over the top, the idea that humans aren't the most evil s.o.b's in the universe has some appeal, even though this is pretty much par for the course for sci-fi movies and books ever since Jules Verne. The gal is more attractive as an alien, which isn't saying much for paltry Earthling gals. The Wanderer looks like a young Leslie Gore, kept expecting her to break out with a rendition of You Don' Own Me. This is one sci-fi flick where the eye's definitely have it.

Wow. I haven't wanted to walk out of a movie since War Horse. Sadly, my streak is at an end and I did end up leaving half way through. I can't even blame poor acting, just a crap script and terrible storyline. The entire production was pitiful and it makes me sad that it was promoted so heavily just to be so horrible.

This movie had me crying for half of it and laughing the other half. I was truly touched by this movie.

The scenery was breath taking and the music spectacular. That did it for me, the rest was something to watch; window dressing.

The cast was not to blame just my disappointment putting great many actors in a lame story. That was my own impression on this flick; I have seen low scores movies that are a joy to watch. It was a pity seeing ‘THE LOVELY BONES AND ATONEMENT” GAL Saoirse Ronan, with Dianne Kruger ( Inglourious Basterds ) And William Hurt (Body Heat) go to waste. The real problem in the movie lies with the EYES fixation and the BLINDNESS to plot and or story line. It is not romantic either, just Saoirse Ronan training her lips while growing into a woman. The landscape was cool. The sudden appearance of Sleeping Beauty (2011) Emily Browning from nowhere land in NOWHERE LAND cinematically and storytelling is not short of puzzling. Let’s blame it on Andrew Niccol.

One of the worst movies I ever saw. Couldn't follow the story and just really not worth it.
| 4/10 | sacoca_@ - 653 reviews 22.4.2013 - age: 26-35 |
This movie will not change your world, or will it receive any Oscars, but it's a great popcorn movie. The actors are great; they take you into another world, which in this day and age is not a bad thing. It follow pretty close to the book, but like in most cases the book is better. On the whole I would say anyone who has read the book will enjoy the movie.

I liked the movie, the story is interesting. However, it was a little difficult at times to know if it was Melanie or Wanda talking.

I enjoyed this movie. It was beautiful too look at, and thoughtful. It was well acted and the script did a fairly good job. I would have liked it, if it had been half an hour longer. The movie definitely made me want to read the book. It's a real feel good movie, and a sweet love story.

It was alright. I had high expectations for it because I loved the book so much. The movie seemed kind of rushed, I understand it's hard to fit a 600 page book into 2 hours but there was no time to build up the relationships, all of a sudden things happen out of the blue with no reasoning and doesn't help the viewer understand the storyline.

We loved it. Best movie we have seen for some time.

I am a huge sci-fi fan and I thought this movie might have something for me but it did not. Definitely a PG movie with no mature themes which is a shame for the older audience because the movie had a great concept.

The Host was a great movie, I absolutely loved the book so I had very high hopes for the movie. There were a couple of things I found a little cheesy/corny, and a couple things that strayed a bit far from the book. Like the editing of Wanderer's voice inside Mel's head, and how the seekers wore all white rather than black, as the were in the book. There could've been a more detailed way to produce the movie, but seriously the colour of the seekers outfit mattered very little in the grand scheme of things. However, there were things about the movie that I absolutely adored. Like how they described the beginning of Mel's life with memories, rather than waste half the movie on it. And the actors in my opinion couldn't have been better. All around a for sure must see movie.

Just saw this movie and I have to say I was impressed. The storytelling was strong and it gave a new meaning to why we live, love and learn in this life. An impressive piece of work that should be enjoyed.
| 9/10 | foreverarockfan@ - 3 reviews 11.4.2013 - age: 26-35 |
A passionless movie. No real tension or excitement. This film manages to avoid anything truly interesting about a planetary struggle against alien invaders.

Presently surprised. I enjoyed this more than I was expecting to. Good story. Different from most movies of type.

As a fan of the book, very disappointed. The dialogue ended up sounding corny, there wasn't any good chemistry between leads (although the acting was less painful to watch than Twilight), and they turned it into a movie for 12-15 year olds.
| 5/10 | talladega05@ - first review 9.4.2013 - age: 26-35 |
Basically the only thing about this movie that isn't terribad is some of the harder sci-fi concepts. The plot and characters are awful. And Wanderer has got to be the single biggest "Mary Sue" character I have ever seen in a professional media. How this character can be related to by anyone I will never know. One of the most frustrating stories I have ever seen.

I like the movie a few parts when to fast in the movie, but if you have the book you can't compare the book is better.

Loved the book and really enjoyed the movie. It seems that reviewers are really polarized in their ratings. They seem to either really love the book and movie or just hate it.

It was funny, it sweet how Wanda learns love the humans that Melanie knows, even though at first they hate her but they still let her out and help around, and I love that Melanie and Wanda talk to each other and control each other.

I have not read the book for this movie but as a fan of Stephanie Meyer, I decided to go to see it. It was as I expected. Original, well written, great storyline with a message. Movie started off set of slow especially I didn't know the book but as the movie progressed I found myself becoming more invested in the main character (s) It's nice to watch a movie with a theme that usually comes in the form of a sci-fi with gory scenes and will be disturbing. Really nice positive spin. Recommended to watch.

The trailer says it's full of action and stuff, but the movie is junk! I thought there was more action in the trailer than the movie...

This was not a sci-fi movie! No action! It was about young romance! The advertisements fool you! I found this movie to be boring! Save your money!
| 1/10 | canadien@ - 5 reviews 6.4.2013 - age: 1-12 |
Although the concept is thought provoking the movie doesn't work. It's like the writer, or maybe the director, was having trouble deciding if they were making a psi-fi or a romance--- and maybe they didn't have the money to do a really good job at the psi-fi, and tried to cover it with a romance? I kept thinking this would make an awesome TV series. TV allows time for a slower revelation and exploration of the concept, as well as some time to develop the quirks necessary to create characters the audience can care about. The big screen feels empty, both physically and emotionally, in this movie. I don't feel like there is anything to be learned from a sequel but, I might watch it, just not on the big screen.

After the many bad reviews I feared the worst, but the movie did a fairly good job of adapting the book. As usual some things were changed to not upset the mainstream audience, which is a pity, but not too disastrous overall. I wonder about the acting comments. The acting wasn't exceptional, but definitely not bad. Boring? I guess if you want non-stop action this isn't for you. I found the lack of stereotype action sequences refreshing. Doesn't it get boring to always watch chasing sequences with things blowing up? This story focuses on the characters and the relationships between them.
