I liked this movie cause it was really different. I knew I would like it cause they are all my favourite actors. Super funny.

Ya in case you didn't realize from the trailers this one is squarely targeting teenage males. Overall it fails badly, just gives you a generous helping of crude and tasteless. From the Lonely Island dudes I can't say I'm surprised. Still I hoped it would be better. Jonah Hill did nothing in this one, Vince Vaughn doesn't stop talking. I still like Ben Stiller, I can't help it. His nerdy charm is unshakeable but this is no Meet the Parents! As somebody else wrote, big chunks of the plot are missing. I think you need be intoxicated to enjoy this one.

Wow, it really seems people either loved or hated The Watch. I thought the idea was original, and some jokes were pretty funny, but big chunks of the movie were just a waste of time.

Don't complain about it, is a good movie, you'll laugh and have a good time life is to enjoy it, not to criticize everything with a bad mood.

Did not know anything about this movie and it was pretty darn good. I thought it was gonna be another boring movie that ended up being so watchable and it had its funny moments. Not bad at all.

I thought this movie was funny and brilliant, it was different and refreshing.
| 10/10 | daph.knee3@ - 2 reviews 18.9.2012 - age: 18-25 |
Bad storyline. Movie is poorly written even such good actors could not save this movie. On another more important note, I no longer feel a need to go to Costco this week.

If you want to go catch a movie with some laughs, I suggest seeing "The Watch"... you may just end up liking it. It's not what I'd call one of the best and strong comedies out there, but it's pretty amusing that you'll find yourself having a good time. Bear in mind this is the type of flick that doesn't require too much thinking, but just to sit back and enjoy the entertainment. The storyline is indeed quite silly and a bit far-fetched though there's enough action, plenty of gags, and absurd happenings to keep things moving at a good pace. Vince Vaughn, Ben Stiller, and Jonah Hill are all very funny and play on each other well. Even Richard Ayoade is surprisingly good that I think I need to watch the "It Crowd" now. Of course this movie has its share of raunchiness and crude humour that may raise a few eyebrows and possibly offend some, but you have to almost expect it. There's also a bit of suspense, and a couple of scary moments throughout this picture, yet it adds to the fun and interest of everything that's going on. I even liked the aliens and thought they were pretty cool. So, if you enjoyed movies like "The 40-Year-Old Virgin"," Tropic Thunder"," Old School", and "Anchor Man" then this is just your cup of joe. Overall, an average movie with some ridiculous and unexpected hilarious one-liners. A good little escape to pass the time.

My rating kept getting lower as the film went on. The chuckles are few and far between. Vince Vaughn shows that he clearly has no range as an actor!! Plus it's one long Costco commercial. This decade's Evolution!!!

Wait for this one to come to dvd or tv - not worth the money. I can't believe they spend good money to make movies this bad!!

This was not a master piece, what it was was an entertaining movie with lots of laughs.

Worst movie I've ever seen. Wierd and boring.

A complete stinker. Do they still use the term turkey? Not a laugh to be found. Too many chefs...

Very bad movie, this is ridiculous. The acting is really bad and the story has no meaning. I want my money back.

Horrible Movie! Even the producers thought it wasn't going to be good. There were scenes that were obviously shot so that they could add 3D effects, explosions where a box of condoms slowed down enough for you to read the name, aliens poping out as if to scare you, but the producers decided it was not worth the money to present the movie in 3D. Bad, BAD script that the actors were bored with. Why would you even release a movie this bad. If this movie shows up on FX in a couple of years, you should watch whatever is playing on Lifetime. SKIP THIS FILM! And please, I beg the movie industry, DO NOT destroy the careers of actors who I actually like with such a bad film again.

Can't believe that they get money to make films like this. It looks like they made it up as they went along. The director must have thought that if they said the "F" word enough times it might make the movie better... sorry but it didn't. Oh bye the way," F" you Seth Rogan for wasting 90 minutes of my life and $10 of hard earned money.

Saw this movie, alone, in a little movie house in Stowe! Where do I begin? Other choices were Batman or Total Recall, both too scary for me. I enjoy Ben, Jonah, Vince as actors. This WAS a comedy right? After the scary previews of movies I did not want to see, the show began. This was like an amusement ride chugging up as the plot reveals itself. Then it gets funnier and... then oops a shock. What irreverent police? Weird. Dirty. Scary. Shocking. Stupid. I'm laughing and embarrassed. And nervous. Can these guys really be saying these lines and doing these things to... My God a surprise turn. A reveal. My son goes to these types of movies. Not me, never. But I did and it was funny in a sick, naughty way. I laughed, I cried (not really) and then I slithered away... quite amused.

The whole alien thing was just weird. Can't believe that a movie with such amazing comedic actors could be such a flop. I may have laughed twice.

I never write reviews here and the bad reviews prompted me to. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie... was never bored in the whole 2 hours. No this isn't a family movie... which of Seth Rogen//Evan Goldberg's movies have been? Before watching you know who produced/wrote/directed the film so you know what type of humor to expect... if you don't enjoy that... then don't go watch the movie. Anyways... I thought this movie was wayyy better than TED. Go see it if you're a fan of all the actors and the producers/director... you won't be disappointed!

I thought it was a great comedy/drama. I like Ben Stiller and he delivered. Good cast chemistry. I thought I would see a ho hum comedy but the aliens were a real threat and the guys had to work pretty hard to get rid of them. If you are looking for some laughs on a hot day, this movie delivers. Great all a round.
| 8/10 | jddimou@ - first review 5.8.2012 - age: 36-49 |
Don't be fooled by the bad reviews on this site. It was a great comedy. Stiller wasn't over acting and played the perfect straight man to the others hijinx. Great chemistry!

I watched the trailer and did not see any of the gross scenes that was in the movie, it was very misleading and should have had a restricted rating, the language was crude.

Just a bit cheezy but there were a few funny scenes!
| 5/10 | joseedvillemaire@ - first review 4.8.2012 - age: 36-49 |
I don't remember seeing such a bad movie, cheap comedy if I can call it comedy. Boring and superficial with a cheap subject and pretty bad dialogs. I expected much more from Ben and Vince. To avoid at all cost.

We don't like aliens to start with & what we saw on the promote on TV it seemed to be good!! Got us big time & we walked out after an hour, this NEVER happened! Boring & even terrible with such good actors, waste of time & money uurrggg.

The only reason I'm giving this movie a 1 is because 0 is not an option. Disappointment would be an understatement, so don't waste your time.

Wow what's with the lame reviews?.. This movie is a hit. Vince Vaughn stole the show. Great cast chemistry, overall just a cool movie. If you're over 25 stay away, you're way to old to watch this... lol!

So funny and great special effects, the Aliens were great. Kind of a Super 8 spoof with the ever over serious Ben Stiller. Awesome summer flick!
| 10/10 | perfectedpicture@ - 24 reviews 2.8.2012 - age: 18-25 |
Very poor movie. I love Ben Stiller, but this time... very disappointing. The stupid jokes, the low language. It was the first time ever I left the movie in the middle.
| 1/10 | lina08@ - first review 2.8.2012 - age: 36-49 |
This movie was a big disappointment. Based on the trailers the storyline appeared completely different than what it actually was. I'm surprised Ben Stiller was starring in it. As for Vince Vaughn he was bordering on annoying. Sure it had some funny moments but this is two hours of my life I will never get back.

Awesome. Movie. Funny as hell awesome actors. A must see movie.
| 9/10 | seenacrazy123@ - first review 1.8.2012 - age: 13-17 |
Not a good movie by any standards. The jokes are banal, tired [...] and fart jokes. The language is inappropriate for a family comedy. This is a new low for Ben Stiller. The acting was amateurish. A similar and better movie was Mystery Men, also a Stiller movie, but with better jokes and cast. It's films like this one which makes one wonder why we waste time going to the movies. Do we really need the foul language in comedies? Is that all scriptwriters think we need to entice us to spend $30 - $40 to see such a film (entrance, parking, refreshments, etc) Want to see a good comedy? Go and see 'The Intouchables'. It will blow your mind.

Poor movie. Kind of like Mars Attack... yes it sucks that bad :( just a waste of time and money... I love Ben Stiller, but this time, very disappointing.
| 3/10 | em-soccer@ - first review 1.8.2012 - age: 26-35 |
The movie did have blatant branding and poo-poo pee-pee juvenile jokes, but it was to the point of making fun of that concept by other comedic writers. The movie was in the same vain as Tropic Thunder making a comedic commentary about the Vietnam war, the movie industry and the perceived privileged life of actors. Vince Vaughn appears to have several improv scenes that steal the show. The concept of an alien invasion being saved by a community watch group is genius! If you're sitting on the fence as to attend then go on cheap night. This movie actually generated the most after movie discussion with my 3 other attendees than any other movie I've scene in a long time!
| 9/10 | saintsauveurcondo@ - first review 1.8.2012 - age: 36-49 |
Everything you would expect from a Ben Stiller cast! A great Sci Fi Summer Comedy produced by Cosco, Budwiser, Apple, Tide and Trojan Magnum Condoms, no joke. This movie was branded upon branding iced with patriotism.

Boring. Predictable adolescent humor. A huge waste of time.
| 2/10 | squarepegcoffee@ - first review 31.7.2012 - age: 36-49 |
Most penis-filled dialogue I have ever heard, otherwise kinda funny... if you're into that kind of stuff. The dude with the fro from the IT crowd is in it and it's great to see him breaking out to an American audience-unless he already has and I'm just out of the loop...
| 7/10 | lauriszobs@ - first review 31.7.2012 - age: 18-25 |
This movie sucks. I love Vince Vaughan and Ben Stiller but this time they bombed bigtime. Sorry, that's the way I see it. I walked out after one hour. Crude, rude, they are so much better than this.
| 1/10 | linbon@ - first review 31.7.2012 - age: 50+ |
Very few laughs. Very bad Ben Stiller reminded me of a person on a extremely horrible date. The date being the script. He did not work well off of the other actors.
| 1/10 | johnsong101@ - first review 31.7.2012 - age: 50+ |
This movie was despite some peoples opinions comic genius. Some people expect comedies like this to be plot driven when the plot is simply the delivery for the crude and humorous events that occur within a comedy. This plot succeeded in doing just that. Created the basis for a multitude of extremely laughable material. One could gather entertainment while watching this movie simply looking at Vince Vaughn's facial expressions. Overall a must see for those who enjoy slapstick or cult comedies.
