It is very interesting. It's kind of like the movie Larry Crowne, it's a biography on the main character(s). It's very different than our lives.

A nice sweet meaningful movie that makes you think about all about life and the true meaning of it. Interestingly enough this movie teaches everyone just about everything. In short enjoy/cherish every moment of life you have.

What a great movie. As a 50+ I can certainly relate to the story. All the actors get a 10 out of 10. Definitely makes you want to go to India and seek out such a hotel.

As a 64 year old man, the movie "hit home" with the hopeful theme that as we age we can still adapt and transform ourselves as we meet the increased challenges of "getting old". Only the British could have celebrated the "beauty" of old age and appreciate the "usefulness" of those we tend to dismiss as beyond their prime and afraid of change. Judi Dench shines in her role and, in one "brave" closeup, she showed me how truly lovely a woman can be as she embraces her "now" with a face that mirrors the inner soul.

When I retire I am going to India."The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel," just seems like a wonderful place to be. I loved the movie. There were parts that were slow but life can be like that. Everything about this movie was great. There is nothing more to say about it, but the older you are I think the more you'll like the film. If you're into action movies this is not the one for you. It's a beautiful movie.

It was neat to see the human side of characters from various countries.

My wife and I saw this movie twice, and actually enjoyed it more the second time. It has an unusual plot, an exotic location, and magnificent acting by a fine cast of veteran English actors.

This is a really good one. It's funny but it's not a comedy per se. It's a really nice movie and you really take interest in the characters. This one is easily enjoyable by any audience.

A Classic - Great acting. Understated, amusing and heartwarming story. Lush settings in the style of Ivory Merchant.

The absolute best part of this movie is watching some of the best British actors share the same screen. The movie is your typical feel good, inspirational and semi-romantic drama/comedy. If it weren't for these incredible actors I don't think the film would have been as strong as it was. It is always tough trying to get all the actors to share equal screen time and this movie does a pretty good job within its parameters. Also top notes for soundtrack and editing.

Really enjoyed this gathering of people, who have moved out of their comfort zone, into a new life adventure. It's a story of living life, wherever that takes you. I'd call it a 40's+ movie. The theatre where we saw it was full, and most were mature adults.

I wanted to see this movie so bad, I went by myself! I enjoyed it from start to finish. If you've ever wondered about India, it was a feast for the eyes. Incredible cinematography, great storyline, fabulous script and the acting superb! I left with a satisfied smile on my face and in my heart. I will go see it again and buy it when available on DVD. We need more movies like this one.

Was a bit of Chick flick but man enough to say that I quite enjoyed. As a "oldie" person (not yet a wrinklie or a crumblie), I could relate to their adventures. Recommend as a See.

The story is light but it is extremely well acted, beautifully filmed. It is warm, funny and certainly a must see. We saw it twice and would not say no to seeing it again.

This is a rare cinematic treat. Great actors, well written, an original story, no violence or gratuitous sex. Of course you have to be fairly mature and intelligent to appreciate it, which is probably why it disappears from a lot of theatres pretty fast.

The cast was great as well as the story. Set in colourful India, you could smell the images of busy downtown and feel the character's emotions. The British just know how to do it up right.

Overrated, boring and irritating but maybe it was just the party of four women behind me who constantly snorted, whooped and laughed uproariously at lines that were smilers at best. So they got all the subtle humour that I missed. Good for them. Big deal!

This is definitely a movie for an older crowd, but I do recommend it for anyone older than 20. Wrinkles may not appeal to you now, and the movie has a lot of them, but you may have to face them in your own future, and this movie will give you some hints. Although I've been to India myself, I can't speak as an expert, but many of the scenes were close to my own experiences. Well-acted, light-hearted, and insightful. The only annoyance was the hotel manager's character, which I thought was overdone.

This is the best film I've seen all summer. Great actors and an interesting plot and setting. Loved the characters, especially Maggie Smith... very different role for her.

Literature based movies are exquisitely contrived often to an extent of being childishly predictable. A 45 year old man sends of his mother an inexperienced traveller at an airport asking “Are you sure you are going to be all right? ” The bus carrying the main characters on a “highway” will go reckless, passengers will scream, and one will crack a joke after realizing nothing has really happened. This kind of exaggerated and contrived “non”- “surprise” gimmicky are all over the place. One character even uttered in “surprise”, “There is an Indian there” as if she is delirious and unaware where she is. It makes one scream, come on, are you an idiot? Then it always needs periodic one line cliché. And it takes a long while to build up for the clichés to be read out by one of the actors or actresses. One needs patience as if standing in line in a grocery store full of middle aged women with coupons in the front. When that is done according to well contrived script, one wants to say, oh, give me a break. Real surprise is that the audience giggle to these gimmicky and clichés. Indeed most are in their senior ages. One needs to see himself in their shoes and hoping he won’t be like those years later. For some miraculous reason, however, the movie worked for most latter part of the movie, Thanks mostly to the actors, each draws decades of experience, some with Oscar glory, and each turns in a story convincingly almost independent of the rest of the movie. Indian actors are impressively competent. Indian culture with its exciting development provides a quite interesting background. Judi Dench, for instance, manages to rise above the contrived plots and clichés and makes her character draw attention, sympathy and understanding from each scene. In a job interview scene, she demonstrated her intelligence with sensible understanding of the situation, embarrassment, then interest and keenness. These layered emotions are illustrated with little but highly efficient expression, gesture and words. No wonder she was awarded an Oscar. She can make a scene with her wrinkled face that has aging written all over. Not just Judi Dench’s character, all characters including the Indians evolve somewhat by the end whether one likes him/her or not. The evolution does not seem to contradict to our senses. So at the end one can’t help to wish them happily ever after. After all it is an English literature movie. These movies often teach something. This teaches no matter what age you are, personal growth does not arrest. Life does not end until it ends.

A lot happening in background - non verbal communication, combined with excellent acting and cinematography. I think some people finding the movie boring just missed that which was not directly said or thrown in front of their eyes. I think this is an excellent movie that will stay with me - for the young of soul.

It 'hit the nail on the head' as far many seniors find themselves in the same predicament; but the outcome was wonderful. People despite their own unfortunate circumstances reaching out to each other to help ease the pain each one feels. Of course having Judi Dench; Maggie Smith & Tom Wilkinson in a film together is sure to be a winner!

I could really relate to the characters in this movie. I might be a little biased because of my age but I would recommend this movie to an Adult of any age; and if any such hotel exists, I would like to stay there.

My favorite movie this year. You'll love it too if you are not a teenager! As another reviewer said, why can't we have more movies for adults like this? The cinemas are full of mindless special effects for kids!

So awesome!! I will be buying this one for sure! Because of the huge cast of amazing characters, this movie has it all. There are plenty of laugh out loud moments, mixed with drama, heartbreak. India is just gorgeous and plays the lead role in this picture. You want to know what happens to these characters. Each one has a story to tell. It's beautifully written and the acting is superb - unlike so many movies these days where there are thin plot lines, no character development and everyone gets blown up. You must go see it!

A fine film. Entertaining, unique, good story and well acted. Only one death throughout the entire film. Probably better appreciated by an audience past their teen years.
