Blech. Just plain not worth it. Slow, dull, boring. Blech.

One of the best animations to have come out this year, and certainly boasts some impressive imagery. The only problems that I had with it were the fact that the characters, while some were well-developed, weren't as interesting as I felt they should be. Also, I felt the pacing of the movie affected parts of the story, and the story itself was mildly interesting at some points and really interesting in others. Otherwise, I would suggest that if you haven't seen it in theaters, a dvd copy may suffice.

An excellent family movie, and a great couples movie. The story was different yet fun and was worth the time and money to go see.

This is NOT FOR KIDS. My nieces were scared for days watching this movie. Dry humor that obviously a child wouldn't understand. I'm 26 and loved this movie. It was cute, funny and amazingly well done. You don't have to see it in theatres but it is a must see.

I failed to read the reviews BEFORE taking my 8 and 9 year olds to see this. I definitely think the commercials target to a younger kid-friendly audience, but this movie isn't really for kids much younger than mine. They both liked it, but be prepared for some teachable moments... my kids are old enough to understand the dialogue but not quite old enough to understand the adult implications in the conversations (or the adult humor) The animation was really cool though, much more fun to watch than some Pixar movies I've seen. And if your kids have seen The Mummy franchise or Monster House, nothing much scarier than that in my opinion.

Funny, great story. I like the dark side of it and the animations are wonderful. Kind of like Caroline, which is normal since it's from the creators of Caroline.

Aesthetics: 10/10 everything else: 7/10 From an visual artist's perspective, this movie is a masterpiece. The animation and wonderfully zany graphic novel inspired art style are the best I've ever seen in a stop motion animation and among the best in animation period. The plot is also very funny and sophisticated, though there are certainly moments where it drags and feels burdened by its PG rating. This is more than made up for though by the aforementioned qualities and the stunning final sequence. This movie was made for horror aficionados and B-cinema geeks, not children, so it won't appeal to everyone (which should be made highly apparent by the many excessively negative reviews here) However if you ever spent childhood afternoons chasing your siblings around in a Jason Voorhees mask, sank more than 3 hours into getting you skin just the right shade of rotten green for your Halloween costume, or drew your teacher getting mauled be a werewolf during detention then you'll find much to love in Paranorman.

Too much corn. Plot limps. Overly long. Slapstick is the wit of the nitwits. Too much of it. Three D did nothing for it. Big disappointment and then some...

There is alot I like about this movie such as giving this overprotective parents a shock and allowing those kids I nice little scary shock and no I don't think any kid any nightmares anymore than Halloween would. Although in saying this the story went over the line in some occasions, Hollywood is starting to push it sneaking in little political options into movies which is sometimes uncalled for specially in a kids movie.

The animation was fluid, the characters fits the tone of the movie with great pacing. The story is a little bit dark for the kids so any young ones -12 and down- might be dark. Love the homage of old horror flicks of the 70's and 80's at the beginning of the movie. The only bad part was that this movie was converted in 3D for $$$ and it doesn't do any justice at all but beside that was very entertained. Fans of Coraline and stop motion animation would love this. Not the same as in Coraline but different in it's own way.

Do not bring any children under 10. So many scared kids in the theatre. That being said, story and cast were decent. With the exception of Norman and his best pal, all the characters looked like school kids made them in class. I'm disappointed for the kids.

Had its funny moments and good story line, but very poorly done. Not recommended for children... not exactly sure what audience it was targeted for. Definitely not recommended for younger children though.

This movie was a little slow to start but more than worth the gloomy comedic ride that it is... with a much deeper sub-plot/message running through it. It's a rare thing that I see a 3D movie and either like it or feel that the 3D actually enhances the flick... unfortunately, this movie isn't in that category for me. I think it would have come across better as regular old 2D much better - I found the 3D distracting... like an interruption/intrusion in my viewing mode... y'know what I mean? I found the 3D annoying is what I'm saying and that's why I'm taking points away in this review. I also like that this movie challenges the audience's preconceived perceptions of what they're seeing up on the screen... but you have to see it to know what I mean by this otherwise I'd have to give something away... and that would not be be nice of me! I also highly recommend this as a family movie for GLBT families... no insults in this - and that is a damn good thing - there's nothing more damaging to children of GLBT parents - kids who are also getting abused by anti-GLBT films. This was fun, morbid, GLBT positive, little comedic animated film! Go see it... in spite of the 3D. ;)

I really loved this movie and I gotta say it's probably one of the best movies this year, which is weird because it's animated movie. But I just loved every minute of this movie, seriously from start to finish this movie is just brilliant and plus the stop motion animation is just incredible looking in this movie. As for the story though, it was really intriguing and I don't want to spoil much of the story because there is lots of twists and turns that happen, so I just gotta say give it a watch and find out. But yeah the story was very good and very strong and I did like that it had twists in it because usually when I watch animated movie I can pretty much guess of what's going to happen throughout the whole movie and I'm usually right, but when I was watching this movie I couldn't' guess at all because so much stuff happens you don't know what the hell is going to happen, which I did like. Another thing I liked was the characters, I loved all of them, Norman was really fun and really smart and also you really sympathize with his character. The characters Mitch and Neil were also really fun, but there mostly the comic relief in this movie, so they make all the good jokes in the movie which they did and the jokes were really funny. Now as for the characters Courtney and Alvin they were a little cliched, you know Courtney is the typical blond sister who's a complete [...] and Alvin is the school bully who picks on Norman, but honestly even though there very cliched characters I still enjoyed them, they both give great humor and the fact that there voiced by Anna Kendrick and Christopher Mintz- Plasse makes it even more funnier and more enjoyable. Now as for the comedy in ParaNorman it was done very well, pretty much every joke in this movie worked. I'm not saying all the jokes were funny, but they didn't fall flat, like I was laughing a lot through this movie. I loved the horror movie jokes, I loved the romantic jokes, I loved the zombie jokes and I really loved the adult jokes. Yes this movie has quite a few adults jokes and man oh man are they funny. I also loved the fact that this movie is not just made for kids, it's made for adults too, actually I think it might be made for more teenagers and younger adults than anything because like I said there's some pretty strong adult humor in it and plus there's some very dark scenes in this movie which will probably creep little kids out a lot. So yeah I think this movie was made for teens and young adults, which is awesome because I loved this movie and I think everyone should go and see it. So I would recommend this movie for people of all ages and also people who love animated movies because if you love animated movies you will think this movie is amazing. Like I said this is probably one of the best movies of this year so far, I'm saying it's the best I'm just saying it's one of the best.

I have to agree with other reviewers that the 3D was not worth it, BUT the movie as a whole is excellent. Amazing that it is done in stop-motion (kind of an old school feel), the clarity is great. As for the plot and dialogue, all well done! Some funny lines and quite edgy for a kids movie, I wouldn't recommend it for any kids under 9 or 10.

It was a very good movie. The animation was great but the 3d wasn't very good. There where a few scenes that were to scary for younger kids but overall it was funny, scary and clever!

ParaNorman... With the various "children's" movies both in theatres and at home, this film sets an all new low. We follow the scary, brutal story of ParaNorman which has been designed with a younger audience in mind. If these are the kinds of movies we are planning to see more of, it is a very difficult prospect to work with. I understand that there is a need for a new elemental perspective in film making, but throwing horror into the mix is not the answer for the younger generation. I can't help but be extremely hesitant in walking into a theatre with this worthless title flashing across the screen. Keep clear. Stick to the lighter, feel good films.

Smart, funny, and undeniably clever, "ParaNorman" is a great film that pays homage to the horror genre. It boasts astounding visuals, a terrific script, a magnificent voice-cast, and amazing pacing. This movie is visually stunning, featuring impressive stop-motion animation that works tremendously. Chris Butler's screenplay is witty and original. It works with the entertaining pacing with ease. The whole cast is top-notch. Kodi Smit-McPhee is incredible as a relatable kid who can speak to the dead. Tucker Albrizzi is hilarious as Neil, providing much of the comic-relief in this film. Anna Kendrick, Casey Affleck, and Christopher Mintz-Plasse are great. Only one major flaw lies with the movie's conclusion. The subplot involving zombies isn't explained thoroughly. Otherwise, this is one of the best films of the year, a surprising treat for adults and older kids.

I would give this show a much higher rating if it wasn't for the waste of 3D. You would think a movie with characters 'jumping out' at you every few minutes would use 3D to actually have the images jump out at you! What is the point of 3D in this picture? The climax of the movie would have been brilliant if 3D had been utilized. Minus 3 points for using a gimmick so poorly, and charging us extra for it. So, definitely rent it when it comes out - it has a very thoughtful and unique twist on the zombie/monster movie and is suitable for older children and teens. Or insist that your local cinema show the 2D version. Please do not waste your money on the 3D cinema version. Maybe if we stopped going to bad 3D they'll put some effort into it.

I was surprised given the number of small children in the theater how quiet it was during the more intense, scary parts. I do still think that this movie is not intended for younger kids, and as the rating suggests there are frightening scenes. We saw ParaNorman in 3D - it is NOT WORTH THE 3D PRICE... at all, period. Other than that it is a good movie, nice flow, some laughs, an actual storyline that children may not fully understand but the humor will make up for that. Enjoyable watch, but probably just as good on DVD.

This was a masterpiece of craftsmanship, every frame a work of art. The story was poignant and moving, certainly timely given the current social awareness of bullying. I loved it. Would watch it again. A bit intense in places for young children, but there wasn't a peep in the theater, and there were some small kids in there.
