Taylor was way better in this than he was in John Carter. The story was a little weak though. Lots of action to replace a good story. Aliens were cool.

I thought the special effects were great. The story line was entertaining in the same vein as Independence Day. I enjoyed it.

This movie is quite forgettable, except for 2 scenes where battleships are in action. Without them, I would have given a 5. The plot is not really interesting, and the actors are average.

This movie brought out the history of Americas' mighty battle ships and Showcased the sheer power of the US Navy from 60 yrs ago, The Sci Fi was good... but the hardware made the movie.

PEOPLE! PEOPLE! PEOPLE! Do I have your attention now? Do not listen to those folks who rated this movie low. This movie is entertaining, well made, good acting, a solid A-t (eigh-t), great CGI, good plot. I didn't see it in a theatre (Yes, I am Canadian) due to low ratings this movie received and I REGRET that because it is a good movie. It it worth watching in a theatre, not on youtube like I just did, but if this is your only choice - do see it.

Man oh man... this one was a piece of work. So I give it a 6 as I was entertained. However, looking past the explosions, this movie is insanely bad. All I would like to know is how an alien race so bent on destruction shows up to deliver said a-kicking only armed with ships that swim like dophins. And, why they only shoot at things that shoot at them is beyond reason. I mean ok, let's establish a real effective security perimeter, but see that lone ship out there inside our awesome force field, let's just leave him alone, he seems ok. The alien tactical commander and overall mission planner for that one needs seem more training.

What a complete waste of celluloid. If they wanted to make a movie based on battleship, why not stick to a naval battle. Not that there is anything novel about such a concept, but the overlaying of aliens into the movie is complete idiocy. It felt like a horrible mix of a movie on the seas, combined with an alien movie, combined with Transformers and a disaster movie for good measure. I laugh at the stupid Hollywood producers who greenlit this idiocy. Hopefully, they have been permanently banned from the film industry.

This wasn't bad but glad I didn't pay to see it at the movies, if you don't try to hard to make any sense out of it, you'll enjoy it.

I just watched Battleship a few days ago with my 13 years old son and we both really enjoyed the movie. Yes it is the usual theme "American save the world" but it's also really funny and action packed! I always like movies that entertain and Battleship got what it takes to make you forget for a couple of hours about anything else - Just watch and enjoy!

I love this movie, it features the greatest battleship of ww2 and desert storm battleship Missouri. I think everyone should see this movie, love war history.

What can you say about a film based on a Hasbro Video Game? Not too bad for one thing but why can't they at least write an original script? Lots of writers looking for work... It's a pretty much cookie cutter formula: good guys blasting bad guys and guess who wins?

Surprisingly entertaining. It follows the usual action formula but it's a fun ride from start to end. While they had minor roles, I found Rihanna and Gregory Gadson to be horrible actors. I can forgive Gadson because he's not an actor by profession but Rihanna was distracting in her awfulness but luckily she's not in the movie that much. If you got an hour and a half to kill, leave your brain at the door and enjoy stuff blowing up in spectacular fashion.

Movie concept was good. Could have been MUCH better. Acting was not the greatest. Surprisingly Rihanna wasn't terrible. I enjoyed watching it on a big screen except there were a couple of dragging parts in the movie that didn't need to be there.

The worst acting ever from the leading actors (excluding Liam Neeson).. I can not believe that these actors can go through auditions and somebody actually picked them up... do not waste you money and time...

It's a shame. With better writing, direction and casting, this film could have been hugely successful. The premise of the game Battleship upon which a key act is based, was very clever as in fact a good deal of the film was creative and enjoyable. However, the rest of it was a waste of time. The worst aspect of the film was the casting of Rihanna who is completely out of place in a film of this type. The fact she looks like E. T. to begin with was only made worse by the huge hat she wore throughout the film. Not to mention she is so delicate and skinny, looking ridiculous e. g. firing a large machine gun. After a while, I couldn't even look at her on screen without laughing especially when she talked tough during action scenes.

You should see this movie under the following conditions: 1) It's hot and sticky outside and you can't go home because your landlord is renovating your washroom and making a racket in the process. 2) You pay the lowest possible price intown for killing under two hours in an airconditioned theatre. If you fulfill these conditions as I did, you're forgiven in advance. On the bright side it's as bad as I expected it to be, which is better than having false hopes dashed on the rocks. It's like a sugary pop, high on sodium. Think of Independence Day in the water instead of on the land and you can get an idea of what to expect. Finally I ask myself why is it the aliens are always portrayed as the badies? Could it be that had the roles been reversed and we were the ones visting Marvin the Martian, we'd turn him into green soup faster than Captain Kirk says "fire phasers"?

Liam Neeson never disappoints! Rihanna was wonderfully surprisingly good in her role. Great action and just the right amount of comic relief. The effects were great and the battles quite entertaining. My father, my sister, my fiance and, myself all enjoyed this movie very much:)

It's a good movie to spend your money. But the worst part is, why didn't they make 3D or IMAX 3D for this, it would be AWESOME if it had 3D. I don't like aliens in here, maybe it's because I haven't like aliens for a long long time. But in the scene Sam looked in alien's eyes, it made me remember the same scene like that in Independence Day (the U. S. A's movie but not Sam, I mean president of the U. S. A in that)

It was an action movie that delivered action with a decent story line and good (not great) acting. Like "John Carter" it was an expensive movie with lots of bells and whistles for special effects and deserves better than the negative critics give it. I'd see this again in a heart beat.

Sure it was cheesy but the acting wasn't as bad as I expected and the writing was right about where I imagined it, weak certainly, but not a complete abomination. Visually it was pretty cool though. Hardly a must see though but it managed to keep me moderately interested from beginning to end.

OK. So I'm at that age where I say to my friends "they just don't make movies like they used to. Action packed and somewhat patriotic, however (spoiler alert) you don't have the galactic fleet travel light years (in literally a few seconds) to have your communications spaceship accidentally run into an orbiting AT&T satellite (no wonder my AT&T service has been so bloody terrible lately) Hollywood has reduced us all to lobotomized automatons. Eat poop enough and you'll eventually ask for extra corn.

OK, so this is not the movie to see if you actually wanted to see the Battleship Potemkin or Why We Fight. In fact, in many ways, it's a recruiting film for the US Navy. On the other hand, it's also a fun film with lots of explosions, manly men doing manly things, fast (and huge!) ships and a few words about how retirement and disability doesn't make people weak. In general, a nice way to spend a rainy Sunday afternoon.

Liam, [...] You need a better agent, or better taste, or both. Sic-fi is missing the alien boat, constantly. Hollywood writers are lacking intelligence and imagination writing to a formula and that's not good for anybody, they've deluded themselves into believing that the movie going public will pay to see any old crap, they are like professional politicians in that way, same old lies, same old garbage year in and year out.

This movie wasn't even a good cliche of an action movie. The story land was mish-mash of past alien invasion movies, corny one-liners, bad acting, and utterly predictable. The aliens were even mediocre and uninteresting. What a waste of money (mine and the movie studio's).

[...] I actually really liked this movie, I must say I also loved Independance day, and Battle: Los Angeles. If you liked both of thoses movies, then you'll like this one. The specials effects were great, cute love story, enough comedy, good caracter development, not too much aliens, and a lot of explosions. I found that even Rihanna did a good job at acting, and I must say I'm a big fan of Liam Neeson. Great action/science fiction movie!

Not Peter Berg's (The Kingdom) best. Not a Liam Neeson movie. Lead not in any way believable officer material. Not scary. Adults should be accompanied by Children.

WoW... there certainly was a lot of Hollywood cheese in this one! The editing was not very good so it never really flowed well. I also found there were too many unanswered questions for this type of movie; yes there's going to be plot holes in this genre but this was over the top... On the plus side: There was a lot of action and I was glad the aliens didn't look like the typical Hollywood creature type. Good story idea, had potential but fell short... IMHO.
