I avoided watching this movie thinking it really would be worst after the previous release, but it was actually a lot more entertaining than I thought, especially with the addition of mermaids. I give it a 8 because it exceeded my expectations which were set at a "I will probably regret watching this" mood. Haha.

I love Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow and he is so funny in this movie. The storyline is easy to follow and it was great seeing Penelope Cruz along side Johnny Depp. I loved the mermaids in the movie they were pretty cool and the action is fun to watch.

I like all of the Pirates movies, this one avoids all of the B-movie crap and gives us more fluff and Piratey substance. This one is honorable towards the ride, but you don't realize how flawed these movies are until you see this one. It seems as though Pirates is running out of flare because this is all fimiliar, it's just nice to see a somewhat decent blockbuster with more appropriate characters. But enough is enough with Pirates, this pointless blockbuster is terrible in 3D, and gets a little boring, but I still can appraciate #4. It really cannot be any better.

What was that? The story made no sense at all. Sure there was some good action scenes, but all in all, it was a waste of time. Probably the worst of the 4 movies in this series.

I think the movie was pretty good, Johnny Depp is an amazing actor he looks so different in pirates of the Carribean! He's so cool.

It was amazing! The plot wasn't as good as the other 3 movies, but it's Pirates! Who doesn't love a good pirate movie.

The 'Pirates' franchise is becoming quite predictable; however, if you like the broad characters (I do), you'll enjoy this as much as the others. It's almost becoming a 'Carry on' type of series, where you see the same characters, same jokes, same situations, but you laugh anyway in slightly different settings, but you enjoy it anyway.

By itself as one, "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" is true to the original story and Disney ride, yet it lost structure and substance once they began searching for a treasure nobody cared about, and the film ultimately delivered no point.

Finally got to watch this movie and it was alright; maybe it's because I may be a little tired of the series. With Orlando and Keira missing it made for a different dynamic between the characters. The story is still alright, I loved the mermaids and Jack Sparrow makes it worth the watch. Not to crazy with the addition of Penelope Cruz.

This is an amazing movie! Keeps the attention of all movie goers from kids to adults! An absolute summer must-see!

I was torn between an 8 and a 9 rating on this one. It isn't for everyone. The first time I saw it, the movie seemed a bit flat but then after thinking about it, it got back to the roots of the first Pirates. More about the characters and less digital monsters. I've seen it 4 times now and there is something new buried in the plot every time. The second and third Pirates was monster overload. The only thing they should have done differently was not to make the mermaids turn into vampires. It jumped on a bandwagon that didn't need to be jumped on, the movie was fine without it.

It was hilarious with still a lot of action scenes. It was a one of a kind and great chemistry throughout all the actors and actresses.

Come on, it's Jonny and JACK, and the adventure continues. Loved it and those mermaids.

This is the best movie I've seen since... I'd have to say Eclipse last year when it came out. I've already been to see Pirates 15 times since it came out and am planning on going again, real soon. As must see movie with lots of action and comedy too.

I had given up on the 'pirate' movies after that horrible third one, but had nothing better to do, so I went. What a great movie!! Great story, acting and ending. Penelope Cruz was great opposite Depp, what chemistry. Looking forward to another!

Not nearly as good as the original... but the best one since. Silly, but fun. Better than I expected.

I thought it was just as good as the first movie maybe a little bit better (I would see it again)
| 9/10 | sheamc@ - 2 reviews 7.8.2011 - age: 13-17 |
A fresh outlook for Capt. Jack. I love the action, and the plot, that had all the twist, and turns of a great movie. The acting was superior, and so were the settings.
| 9/10 | orkelly@ - 80 reviews 30.7.2011 - age: 50+ |
It's Jack at his best, the new characters fit in perfectly and I got entertained, to the very end. You never know with Jack and where he's going to go. Really fun to watch. The ending gives room for yet another movie.

It was a little boring and draggyyy. Johnny Depp was a joy to see but it coud have been better. The Monkey should have had more roles!!!
| 6/10 | shazjoao@ - 1728 reviews 18.7.2011 - age: 36-49 |
I thought this movie would never be as good as the others seeing as Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightly left, but it was actually quite good anyway :)
| 8/10 | marikajoyconarroe@ - 3 reviews 17.7.2011 - age: 13-17 |
Absolutely entertaining from beginning to end... Great humour, scenery and music. I liked it perhaps more than the previous ones. Jack and Penelope Cruz were awesome (and great chemistry) and so were the other characters. I'll watch it again and again. Great mermaid scene and can't wait for the next one!
| 9/10 | johnfrank35@ - 29 reviews 15.7.2011 - age: 36-49 |
This movie is hilarious!!! Johnny Depp is once again awesome and really funny. Penelope Cruz is really good. And the movie has a good story line to it.
| 10/10 | linsar@ - 4 reviews 14.7.2011 - age: 13-17 |
Not my favorite of the series but it's still a lot of fun to watch.
| 7/10 | waitangi106@ - 10 reviews 14.7.2011 - age: 36-49 |
My first 3-D experience... glad it was this movie. It was awesome! All the old favourite characters are there and a few new ones thrown in to mix things up a bit. Johnny Depp is at his swashbuckling best. This instalment is much better than the last. Loved it!
| 9/10 | mail@ - 14 reviews 12.7.2011 - age: 50+ |
I was not thrilled with 3D because everything in the background is fuzzy. This movie is a the others, well done, great stunts, scenery and great laughs. I hope there is at least one more pirate movie. The two people I missed in this as crew members were the fellow with the glass eye and his strange buddy. Ian McShane is a great Blackbeard. Let's face it Jack and Angelica need to get together again. Jack and Hector need to travel the seas in search of more swag and Jack and Gibs need to bring back the Black Pearl maybe with the help of the Flying Dutchmen. They found the Fountain of Youth, now let's find Atlantis or something else. Let the saga continue!
| 10/10 | sillyyak@ - first review 10.7.2011 - age: 50+ |
Let me start by saying I loved the first 3 pirates movies. But this one blew them all out of the water. The fact that orlando bloom and kiera knightly are gone is the best thing that could happen to the series. The constant whining and piss poor acting is gone and we are left with Barbosa and Aparrow at their best. If you like action and adventure this movie hits a home run.
| 9/10 | aurorapawnstar@ - first review 9.7.2011 - age: 26-35 |
A good movie with action, not funny, but it's good to watch.
| 8/10 | mathiasgirma123@ - 2 reviews 8.7.2011 - age: 26-35 |
It's different without Will and Elizabeth. But it's still a very good movie. I would go see it again any time. Great fight scenes and special effects.
| 10/10 | sac_duiga24@ - first review 8.7.2011 - age: 13-17 |
This was likely the weakest of all the Pirates movies. The 3-D was feeble and did not enhance the visual effects, except for the odd predictable sword into your face stuff. And the mermaids were absolutely unnecessary. Killer mermaids? Come on. My feeling is that the mermaids has no real purpose to the story-line and wasted about 30 minutes of screen time. Depp was fine in his role, although he was far more effeminate in this movie than others and rarely presented himself as "serious" in the movie at any time. The Sparrow character should at least take a break from the "silly-antics" from time to time in the movie.

Johnny Depp awesome as always! Could have picked someone better than Penelope Cruz though. On par with the other movies though, very enjoyable.
| 9/10 | gbrcairns@ - 3 reviews 7.7.2011 - age: 26-35 |
There is no doubt that this is the best Pirates movie yet. It had a whole new plot, and lots of new characters that were way more interesting than Will and Elizabeth.

I only watched the first half of the first Pirates of the Caribbean because I almost hated it. However, I went to see this one with some friends and I ended up liking it a lot :)

I expected way more, definitely a let down not the worse movie of the year but NOT a must see. Thumbs down.
| 5/10 | sweet_babi_girl13@ - 2 reviews 4.7.2011 - age: 18-25 |
This movie was definitely not as good as the first three, but it definitely had its merits. Lots of good action, but I missed the antagonism that plagued Jack and Barbossa in the first and third movie. It almost seemed as if they tried to pull this movie a bit in a new direction which did not work for me. All in all this is still a must see movie.
| 7/10 | nathan_lust@ - 46 reviews 4.7.2011 - age: 18-25 |
It was a very good movie but the plot was a little bit off. But either way it was worth seeing.
| 7/10 | zshaw2010@ - 9 reviews 4.7.2011 - age: 13-17 |
I expected more, the second and third part where way better. Still worth to watch it.
| 7/10 | wax757@ - 4 reviews 3.7.2011 - age: 26-35 |
I thought Johnny Depp was hilarious as ever in his role of captain Jack Sparrow, Penelope Cruze actions were clumsy at times, but I guess that was because she was pregnant during the filming, however the director could have done a better job at cover up them clumsy scenes. I expected a better chemistry between Depp and Cruze... didn't happen. He had better chemistry with Keira Knightley. The 3D aspect was disappointing, I saw better 3D film back in 1995 at Disneyland (a Michael Jackson short featured film) Overall, it is still quite entertaining.

| 9/10 | haileycondie6@ - first review 28.6.2011 - age: 13-17 |
This was a pretty decent movie. The characters weren't as interesting as the original movie and I think part of the problem was there were too many different people in the movie. You never ended up caring that much about anyone in particular. The story was OK. Sort of like Indiana Jones and the Lost Crusades but without any interesting twists or turns. The action scenes were fine but the story just seemed to go from point A to B to see without a lot of surprises. My son really liked it and overall a decent movie. I'm not sure that the 3D was worth it though.
