Just nothing good to comment on except maybe some of the acting and effects, even the effects were subpar. The story (or as much of one is there is) is overdone and just boring. Only people I would recommend this too would be people who just like plain action just for the sake of action it doesn't get much deeper.

Best war (fine, survival) movie you'll ever watch, maybe the best you've heard of! If you liked The Hurt Locker (or didn't), see Battle LA, it's very cool!

Simply enjoy this sci-fi with such great actors. Totally entertained.

This movie was one of the worst things I have ever seen in my life if you go to see it, don't see alone you'll hate yourself for it. Awful movie, terrible ending. I was very surprised when Michael Bay's name didn't appear at the end. No plot decent F. X.

If you want a movie that makes you feel dizzy, then this is for you. I had to leave the theater b/c it was so annoying. I watched this against my will, (my boyfriend's brother's idea) Girls: Avoid this movie like the plague.

It is really too bad the producers kept some parts of this movie or it could have been much better. There's NO DOUBT that it is 100% American G. I. super soldier propaganda. I just took it for an entertaining sci fi flick and tried to look past that. The movie also "borrows" HEAVILY from other movies and I found elements of: Hurt Locker, Cloverfield, Independence Day, District 9 among countless others. The themes and scenarios are so cliche it's not funny. One-dimensional lines? Check. Male testosterone driven hero banter? Check. Lame scenes inserted to show the humanity of characters? Check. Alien clicking sounds exactly the same as every other alien clicking sounds in other movies? Check. Soldiers being dragged to their death by unseen aliens in the bushes? Check. Seven marines defeating the entire horde of super powerful aliens against all odds? Check. Chick from Blue Bloods doing nothing except being compassionate to children and the injured? Check. Ethnically diverse group of marines for political correctness? Check. Michelle Rodriguez playing yet another uber-tough role? Check. Having said all this, the action scenes were good and the visual effects quite decent, on par with the top movies. If you expect more out of blockbuster type sci fi movies, I'd say you're dreaming in technicolor. Yeah, it was pretty obvious how rehashed the presentation was, but there were some original parts too. It could have been much better by removing some of the worst dialogue and overused techniques.

This is the deepest bull... that I ever saw in my life. If it wasn't in the war movies caterogy, it would be in bad humoristic category because it's a big joke. Do not waste your time or money!!

This movie was terrible!!! The plot was overly predictable and the aliens, who have the ability to find water from across the universe can't be smart enough to put the one thing that they are all dependant on in a harder spot to find than where it was!!! HORRIBLE! NEVER SEE IT! It was a true waste of money and time and life. [...]

It was meant to be an action but it also had a story line. Action packed loved it.

Surprisingly entertaining. Non stop battle action from beginning to end but also went deeper into the characters. I really wish they would not do that jittery camera work though. Not sure what it's called but it wants to take you into the action to make it more realistic. I just find it annoying.

This movie is exactly what I expected. Great sci-fi with terrific special effects. Those who put this movie down are not sci-fi lovers--and they shouldn't go to sci-fi movies. I did not expect a complex plot, dialog, etc. Never do with sci-fi. I did expect great action and aliens attacking--which they did very well, and I found it tense, as it should be. It is not a master piece but I challenge all critics to do better. I doubt that you can.

Consider this "the hurt locker" winning the academy award for best picture. Who or what is rating these movies. Are certain hollywood pictures produced in order to keep the war machine rolling overseas. Americans love this (and some Canadians) but why we ask. Is it because they need a feel good, a hero to warm the simple thought to get you through the day to fill the holes in your life. This is not reality people and don't be brainwashed into believing every American war hero story is a good one, you are only depriving yourself of what's really being transpiring on this small planet for decades. Open your eyes people and be strong don't let fairytales blind you to the truth, because when it does come the only one capable of standing tall, improvising and overcoming is you and your brother. Be safe and wake up!

| 5/10 | georgiana.stroe@ - 84 reviews 11.4.2011 - age: 26-35 |
This felt like Cloverfield: hand held camera witnessing an alien invasion for some reason. Okay, we presume they want our resources, but that's an objective, not a whole plot. Good visual effects, but given the script, the lack of story and the length of the movie, it's simply not enough.

Typical "America is the Greatest Movie".. Wat a waste of Script, music, time, money, imagination and footage space... :P Horrible by all means... Starts up very slow at first, builds up this typical US marines vibe, that they are the most powerful, organized, loving and at the same time tough men "Leave no man behind".. (Spoiler) Then shows it u, that because of their smartness, they were able to save the WORLD in one day... wooowwwooo... I gave it 4/10 just because I love alien war movies, but I love alien wars MOVIE without this US marine Vibe... SPOILER: Also an Immigrant (probably Mexican) who saves the life of a Marine! Are you serious?! I wonder who came up with that stupid idea...

| 8/10 | modelle@ - 14 reviews 10.4.2011 - age: 26-35 |
This movie was about what life is like for Marines when called into battle and the risks they take for their country. It had some action and alien fighting scenes but was definitely not a high speed non stop action type movie. It could have just as easily taken place in a war against another real country.
| 7/10 | g1k1r1@ - 10 reviews 10.4.2011 - age: 36-49 |
Lots of action, great battle scenes. The movie is constantly on the the move, not a lot of dull parts. The acting can get a little weak and predictable when they have a mushy scene but it was kept to a minimal so it was okay. Over all I really enjoyed this flick.

| 3/10 | cp_mcleod@ - 2 reviews 6.4.2011 |
Another cliché american patriotic movie, nothing new the only way you would liked it... it's if you're a right wing republican redneck enthousiast who gets aroused when he sees men in uniforms, defending the wasteland called USA. Walked out after 20 minutes, empty.

Do you like constant action? Do you like a story that is extremly predictable? Then this movie is for you. Basically non stop action, with no story and exagerated force. Entertaining yes but funny as in predicting 3/4 of the movie absolutly.
| 5/10 | kdgohabsgo@ - 12 reviews 4.4.2011 - age: 18-25 |
Pretty solid movie, I enjoyed the action and intensity of it. I liked the camera work which for some movies doesn't work out for but it worked for this one. However the plot wasn't planned out too well and it's a very "America is #1" type of film. Most of the negative reviews are from people who aren't part of the movie's demographic audience, i. e: young 10 year old girls or 40+ year old adults. The movie is geared towards 12-20 year old males, with the exception of some younger or older and females. I don't mean to offend anyone, I'm just expressing my opinion. All in all pretty good movie, some tweaking here and there would make it much better.

I did not like the trailer too much. I thought the movies worked on a few levels. The pacing was decent and the explosions and other effects were good. Plus there was no guy with a laptop saving the world to ruin it.

MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS Average flick. Very little story, incredibly tired clichés throughout. Add to that, it really comes across like a recruiting video for the Marines (the whole "ooorah" thing is SO over the top) The characters are absolutely "classic" clichés, ripped from every other war movie. The most annoying thing is the lieutenant who is 1) young, 2) recently promoted, 3) this is his first assignment, 4) fresh out of the academy... and now for the real kicker: 5) loses men and goes into a deep funk rendering him essentially useless as a leader so that the "Sarg" can take over, 6) sacrificing himself to blow up the bombs that "end the skirmish". It's been done before (he is a direct rip from the equivalent character in Aliens, for example), and been done better. The heroic "everyman" who grabs a gun to save the marines... and you KNOW he's gonna regret it! Aaand he does. The obligatory death scene with the mopey, melodramatic," tug at the heart strings" dialog. The effects, for the cost of this film, were less than convincing. The story is absolutely minimal. The writing is, likewise, minimal. And the worst part is the epilepti-cam. This is yet one more film in the garbage heap of "action flicks" that think that frenzied, uncontrolled, non-stop moving cameras "put the audience in the action". Note to Sony: they don't. So stop doing it. This is an OK fluff action film, immediately forgettable. There is nothing, and I mean absolutely NOTHING memorable about it. The action scenes in "2012" were far better put together than in this, even if THAT film had its own flaws. See it if there's nothing else playing.

Not many good reviews but I loved it, bit slow to start but then the action started a short time into the movie, a cross between independence day and district9,, well worth a look.
| 8/10 | trooroo@ - first review 3.4.2011 - age: 36-49 |
Awesome. If you're looking for action, this throws it in your face as a fast paced adrenaline pumping war movie. Obviously not going to have a believable plot since it's sci-fi. Forget the people rating it 1 and 2.
| 9/10 | steven_adkins_101@ - 3 reviews 2.4.2011 - age: 18-25 |
Straight up guy movie some good to great effects. Story line goes way off and does not make much sense. But if you like shoot them up flag waving American movies, this is ok.

You get what you ask for in a typical visually appealing but simple story line type movie. You could not go to this movie and expect anything more than what was delivered. Simply an action/visual spectacle which is worth seeing if you like the genre.
| 7/10 | guyco@ - 4 reviews 1.4.2011 - age: 50+ |
Forget about it. Don't watch in the theaters and don't watch it on DVD. The film will be disappointing in both aspects and you will regret you life. The noisy thrills, ridiculous plot, and garbage screenplay will REALLY bother you. If you want to see a brilliant alien film see District 9, because it was my favorite film of 2009. This is the worst film of the year.

I went to see this on cheap day and I have to say was a bit disappointed. It's a good movie to just sit down and relax and watchat home, but not worth it to pay full price. It's one of those movies where you basically see the entire movie in the commercial itself. I think they could have done more with it.
