It's good, yes, but doesn't live up to the hype associated with its makers. If you're going to promote a movie as a Spielberg and Abrams collaboration, it better be darn extraordinary. Super 8 has got a great ensemble cast, quirky characters, a few wonderful dramatic and special-effects' based scenes and... and... and... a mediocre plot. Hope the careers of the young, talented actors do skyrocket. But for the others associated with the movie, Spielberg has done all his alien movies better. And Abrams has done the Star Trek reboot much much better.
