Just to clarify, as a documentary this was a good movie but not knock-one's-socks-off great. The subject matter, however, was really fascinating and it was great to spend 90 minutes with Ai Weiwei. I attended the film with a friend who used to live in China and we were both amazed that any person in China could get away with what Ai does. I loved this film, love the protagonist and now am following him on Facebook and Twitter.

The drama of an outspoken, internationally recognized artist pushing the bounds of an autocratic government was riveting. The inevitable outcome was predictable and the consequences somewhat less severe than expected - he lives.

Whatever corruption or issues the Chinese government has in feeding and controlling 1.5 billion people is mirrored 100% in the North American / Canadian society. We also have a corrupt government, slightly less fake justice system and exactly the same control mechanisms remember G20 summit Toronto. This movie shows that China is the same as the rest of the world and in many cases better. I am English (not chinese) and I work all over the world therefore have an outside the media view point. Important we have movies like this and that this artist is heard but lets keep a balanced view.

A man who uses his art and the digital medium to wage a fight for individual rights and recognition of a political system that needs change. The artist as a person seems very likeable and honest in his belief. A good documentary with a strong simple message for all. 8.5.

Very interesting documentary about Ai Weiwei; he's a great artist, amazing work. At the same time he uses his talents and power as an activist, to make a change, to bring democracy and freedom to China. He's very courageous and inspirational. People like him change the world.

Makes me want to learn more, which is what a good documentary should be.

A good documentary, though the middle part was not focused. As a Chinese, I have learned a lot about HIM as an artist! A very good doc. Thanks.

Wish there had been more of Weiwei's art, the children's backpacks made me cry.

The most compelling expression of freedom, courage and contemporary art!!! A must see for everyone, since it represents a rare example of social activism brought about by a successful artist.

Powerful doc with unprecedented access to one of greatest dissidents alive in China today... an important film for those who love art, freedom and are unsure of just how corrupt and dangerous the klepto-dictatorship of the Chinese communist party truly is.
