Fun, quirky and original movie, unlike anything you've seen. Refreshing.

Amelie is one of my favourite movies of all times. Love French narrated movies.

Give it a 10 just for its originality. Hopefully more movies like this will be made instead of Hollywood fluff.

Its an ok movie but certainly not worth getting excited about. It definitely doesn't deserve the high ratings people are giving it. The acting is excellent but the story is too simple and largely unbelievable. It was also far too long and I found myself losing interest after 80-90 mins. I did like, however, the idea that the smallest of gestures/actions (like dropping a lid of a bottle) could potentially start a chain of events rolling. Bit like Chaos theory with the flapping of a butterfly's wings.

Loved it. Usually I don't like having to read subtitles but it was worth it!

Wonderfully filmed at every scene! Amelie is definitely not a character you'd likely know or forget. Great storyline; very well tied together. Quite a long one, but worth every minute. It will become one of your favourites!

If you are only going to see one forein movie in your whole life... See this one. It's strange, no hollywood here! Totally enjoyed it! See it.

I love this movie. It's very funny, a little bit dark in some parts of the movie but overall a movie that's for every type of person. Well done.

I love this movie. It's touching and beautiful to watch, and is a positive heartwarming story full of joi-de-vivre - who doesn't want to be Amelie?

We watched this movie in french class, the english version(le fabuleux destin d'amelie poulain) and it was amazing. Our teacher had to turn the TV around on all the sex scenes but other than that, everyone enjoyed the picture immensly. Also, we learned many new words!! :-)
| 9/10 | disasterousxblonde@ - 3 reviews 2.10.2006 - age: 13-17 |
This is a beautifully odd film that is like nothing else, mainly because it strived to be different from any other and to not hold itself within the boundaries of realism. The performance by Audrey Tatou is magnificent and unlike any of the other roles she has taken on. It is the type of movie that makes you glow because it is so special. The topics that this movie touched were fun and completely different, and one could only wish real life were as amazing as this movie.

It's a film we can only have a chance to see once in a blue moon. A wonderful movie!

I really loved the use of colour in this movie and added to the overall pleasure of watching it.

This is a story full of sweet and quirky "mini-stories". On the whole, it deals with insecurities, frailties of spirit, and at the same time, shows the strength one gets from being selfless. A wonderful, "light" movie that feels cuddly to the romantic and taps the shoulder of the cynic.

A very clever script, some wonderful quirky characters, good music (French accordion) and a wonderful mix of humour and compassion.

What a film!!! A simple yet sweet orignal film, Audrey Tautou plays Amelie perfectly, as simple, shy but caring person, who wants the best for the people around her. A truly unique, classic film in it's own right! Fantastic director, brillant acting from both Audrey and Matthieu and brillant writing! A very sweet film, which will make you smile right from the beginning to the end. A must see film, alos recommand others film from the director of this film. A film which makes you feel like love is possibly no matter who you are!

Audrey Tautou plays a cute, unorthodox, but genuine young women very well. Unusually funny, which makes the movie so effective.

I thought this was an wonderful movie, it was very different (in a very positive way) to american movies, it had a light and enjoyable plot that had a very selfless idea behind it which is a pleasent change. Also the music was fantastic! I just wish I understood French so I could appreciate it more.

Beautiful, it's a film that you can rewatch and rewatch again and it'll sure leave a smile on your face. Amelie'll win your heart in a few secondes with her big innocent puppy dog eyes. =3.

I was bored out of my mind. Boring people doing boring stupid things. I sat there thinking "This is bandwagonism at its worst". Come on people get your own opinions!

Best movie I've ever seen. No doubt, a dream came truth. This movie has changed my way of looking at life... I wish I could meet a girl like that :) worth 11/10!

Not a but the perfection. Every schene of it has meaning. The movie is full. But do not try to do same things in the real life please... I tried they worked up to some degree but then failed... so I think if you try you will die (of misery)
| 10/10 | ysari@ - first review 20.12.2002 - age: 18-25 |
Excellent movie about a dreamy world where anything is possible if you just put your mind and Imagination to it. It's been a long long time since there has been as good a tongue in cheek feel good movie of such magnitude. The acting and direction is superb and the cinematography of the highest quality (I'm trying to control the superlatives) It's nostalgic about Paris but in a good way, Its sweet but not soppy, And unpredictable, it makes me want to learn French and go for a Holiday the Music is perfect (Tiersen should have gotten an Oscar as should have the movie) It really is a very touching movie (at least to me anyway) If only we could all have the strength to be as open and kind as the main Character Amelie. AAAHhhhh Well I guess I will just have to enjoy the Wintriness of Glasgow for now.

A charming and witty movie with great cinematography, colour schemes and fun ideas. The myriad of characters makes the movie hilarious at times and touching at others. It was a movie that stayed with me for days afterwards as I reminisced the scenes and the uplifting music.

Amelie brings out the beauty of love in a childish and playful way. The quiet understanding Amelie shares with the mystery man was a great thing to see. I think this movie was very thoughtful with the dialouge and settings. I loved the red and green (and a bit of blue) everywhere, and I missed it the first few times while reading the subtitles. Audrey Tautou and Mathieu Kassovitz were stunning! I have never seen two actors so right on film. ^-^.

The script is magnificent, with wonderful characters. I love the attention to little details, and Amélie's appreciation for them. The mystery of the man in the red shoes is fabulous. It's definitely unique and brilliant.

I don't have much to say about it. Talking about a girl who get into strangers life incognito to help them with various stratagems. A feel good movie :)

Great! This movie is an innovation to narrative. A love story with a diverse pattern of thoughts. Amelie, magic creature, perhaps like the little garden gnome, she is there to give hope to everyone. Enchating, engaging, clever use of close-ups to deliver the mood. The general feel of the play is about ways of grasping your attention, truly entertaining.
