This movie was extremely gory and gross. But at the same time it was interesting, the plot was nothing that I have ever seen before. I wouldn't see it in theatres but to rent it, it is good.

It seems the people here do not get the concept of 'homage', which is what this movie is. It pays homage to previous horror film icons and also the cliches that came with them. It was a wonderfully crafted and interesting concept and Joss Whedon managed to make it all work. Definitely a classic.

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.]
The main idea is ok but it's missing something to make the story stronger. It's going sometimes too far that makes the movie becomes ridiculous, especially at the end when they come into the lab.

CABIN IN THE WOODS**** What is it Cabin in the Woods? (with the precious KRISTEN CONNOLLY) A Live Show with spectators? Like in DEATH RACE (Jason Statham-Natalie Martinez being the players among others), spectators betting on their heads for hard heart-cash? Or just organizers making a kill? Or just entertainment for some addicted adrenaline junkies? The players they seem to be all expendables, any which way they play hoping to turn the tables on their favor fighting with all they've got for a Game they didn't chose trying to stay alive. It's all in the profits, no horror here just betters and players. Casino Royal it is not but you get the idea whether you bet with dollars or Barneys or Pumpkins. If Good luck depends on the Gods and their Keepers, sacrificing sheep to apeace them so we can keep on living, or depends on how well we know and play the Game and how we can beat it brutally fighting to the very end even if it is with our on life, to live or to die, is there a choice? I have to ask: What Gods got to do with it? I wonder if all these ideas come from the era of the Gladiators, reminder of 'Gladiator' 2000 epic historical drama film directed by Ridley Scott. Do people still need bread and circus to forget a horrific reality? This is no different than the merciless unpredictable stock-exchange. It is Capitalism taken to the extreme in any manner or form. Casualties and winners, 'may the odds be in your favor' (Hunger Games)

Don't waste your time with this flick, not even as a rental. Not only the script, the dialog and the special effects are terrible, but they also forgot the horror and the chills. Throwing some lame zombies at it is just not enough. Complete garbage.

The script of the movie was very poor, as well as the plot. It was without doubt one of the worst movies I have ever seen, and if you want a horror, don't watch this. Poor movie. Not good even if it's free.

I didn't enjoy it that much, but others I was with did. If you're not paying to see it then it's worth watching just to watch and see for yourself. I wouldn't recommend it as a theatre watch for sure! Definite Blockbuster rental (IF it was still opened) lol Even then I wouldn't pay for it! Lol.

This movie was so bad, I was actually enjoyed the bloody demise of each of the young guns which brought the ending that much closer. As soon as the credits started rolling everyone bolted. There was a jam at the exit as if the place was on fire. Keep away. You have been warned.

I thought this was one of the coolest movies I have ever seen. Such a unique premise and kept you guessing the whole time, it was a bit of every movie genre combined into one awesome picture. Loved it.

So so. Not as good as critics were raving. I found the film to be very cynical and apathetic. I don't believe in evil demons as I'm sure most other people don't. The interpretation of hell in reality is not a literal one which is what they do here with CGI overdose.

Anyone who gives this movie a bad rating because it wasn't scary enough simply didn't understand the movie. If you want to be scared, go watch Chernobyl Diaries or whatever crappy horror movie is out there this week. This was one of the most creative movies I've seen in years. Everyone should watch it and enjoy the ride!

I went to see this on the advice of a co-worker who also does not like horror movies. I liked most of it. Different spin on a horror. Some intelligence involved (on a negative note some preposterousness as well) Actually I chuckled quite a few times (in a good way, not like in the majority of 'horrors' these days) On a sidenote, this is the second movie in as many months which brought "The Truman Show" to mind. The other being The Hunger Games.

God, PLEASE take me off of this planet, I want to go home! Hollywood keeps making these mindless special effects movies because people keep filling the seats and watching this crap. I can't remember the last time I saw a movie with a good storyline and this one is one of the all time worst I've ever seen. Special effects and mindless action seem to be what a lot of todays movies are all about.

Wow! What a great flick, possibly destined for greatness. I am so happy to be completely in the dark regarding the reveal. I don't know how I managed to avoid it all this time given that I was late to the party in seeing this one. I was laughing, I was scared but best of all I was surprised time and time again. Tons of fun, very violent, this is great for everyone except your parents and your children. It's for you.

This movie was amazing. I went in knowing nothing about it and was certainly not disappointed. [...] anyone a fan of the horror genre will enjoy this film. At the beginning it appears slightly cliche; not long after, it turns in to one of the most unique horror films I've seen in years. It's also totally hilarious. Definitely worth a watch!

I loved the movie so much, about half way through the movie, there was lots of unexpecting things for about 15 minutes, loved have to see, only thing didn't like was the ending.

Critics weren't good for this movie but I went to see it anyway. Good thing I did, I LOVE it. I thought it was original, with a fabulous (ironic) ending. The only part I didn't like was the part of the explanation by Sigourney Weaver at the end, it was rushed. Other than that, I loved every minute of it but it's not for every one.

After viewing this movie, I really didn't know what to think, it actually took me a day to process it all and decide if I really liked it. Once I'd thought about all that was put into it though, I came to the conclusion that it really was good. Just don't go in expecting a horror movie, as that is not really what this is.

Yes I used a coupon too, and I'm glad. Good effects, ok story, and yes good monsters. The company that made this had money problems had this sitting on the shelf for 5 years. The muscled guy -ie; 'thor' is young. I didn't like that he referenced evildead (cabin-deadites), pinhead (guy w/ the ball) and the obvious-zombies and other monsters. Coulda been more original. This one was just too much of a stretch. And I've seen quite a few horror movies. One last thing - if they make a sequel to this, someone has money to waste. Do a buffy the vampire slayer movie r something or another howling. [...]

A good movie. Seriously flawed. Slow in spots. Really kicks in for the end. Built on a good if very silly premise, this film pulls its punches much too much to be great. An original concept kind of wasted. But compared to the usual studio dreck this is solid. If there was ever an era for the gutsy studio film it's long gone now. Not that anybody seems to mind. Crowds come out for the worst drivel. But enough about the Avengers. Remember when movie stars who put on tights and a cape were ridiculed and dismissed? I didn't think so.

With the start of the typical young adults getting ready to go away for the weekend, we all kind of groaned. We thought about the typical everyone-gets-brutally-slaughtered-one-by-one scenario. But it took a twist, which was pretty cool. The concept is a really good one, however they execution was so-so. The end explained it all, and it was pretty creepy to consider that one could meet up with their 'worse fear', imagining what some people have as fears. Worth the cinema visit and price, but if you waited for the DVD, good enough as well.

Awesome, I had no idea what to expect when my girlfriend dragged me to this movie. When I saw Joss Whedon was the director in the opening credits I got excited and the movie following did not disappoint. Very funny. I have recommended it to friends.

It was sooo bad, I wish I left in the first half hour... it was like another version of ghost busters... getting attacked by all the ghosts and demons... what a joke of a movie... I was really disappointed... the preview looked sooo good, but the movie was sooo bad...

Luckily I used a free admit one ticket to see this movie. It was a neat idea/plot, but the acting was really cheesy and the story ended up being some what comical. I thought that I was going to see a scary movie, but it reminded me a little more of the Scary Movie series, except without trying to be intentionally funny. The ending was completely unexpected even with the random turn of even throughout the movie. The visual effects were decent, though.

It's a horror with many laughing moments. Acting is just ok, plot is ordinary but there is a lot of imagination put into it. Only when you think that it is weird, it becomes weirder! At best 8.5/10.

As some of the above have said, this is a fantastic, fun and campy horror film. It's been a long time since I watched a horror where I laughed and jumped and felt queasy all in the same couple of hours. It has all the elements of a cult classic (Evil Dead, Army of Darkness etc.) If you don't get those movies, you probably won't "get" this one either. It's well written, well acted and well shot and thoroughly enjoyable!

Joss Whedon writes like a boss! If you like horror, even remotely, go see this excellent movie. It's fairly hilarious writing at times, of course, but be prepared for some scary, slasher, good times.

This is not a Horror Movie, this is a representation of how crap horror movies are today. The movie's intention wasn't to scare people, but to show you how society's way of viewing a horror has gone to crap. Cabin in the Woods is brilliant. With a story that is never seen coming, and if you are giving this movie a 1 on 10, then you obviously are unappreciative of what was it called? Oh! STORYLINE. The Comedy factor should give you [...] a hint on how it knows it is not a horror movie and how it never intended to be. This movie is about the STORY! By the end of the movie, if your IQ is not failing you and is at a decent level, then you will understand the story in the back story to it. Conclusion: Cabin in The Woods? BRILLIANT AND DIFFERENT! 10 on 10.
