Once more the British have proved themselve to be superior in the art of movie making. The originality of the subject of their movies, their approach to social problems and their humour. Billy Elliot is more than a movie about a little boy who discovers the 'electricity and fire' of dance. The miner strikes, the gay-tranvestite best friend and the rich girl next door, with a unlikely mix of family adversity against Billy and eating itself from the inside with the world crashing in. This is what life is about... We spend alot of time with children in this movie, yet we have the impression of being amongst extra sensitive, wise and aware of the world surrounding them. At the same time we have the adults who feel they have lost control, lost their minds and lost their faith in life. Billy is an attestation of the beauty of focus, the result of love and the passion that goes with giving someone the chance to realize their dream... at whatever cost. The acting is beautiful. Young Jamie Bell (Billy Elliot) is simply amazing. His intensity and believability are touching. Watch out for Bell because is going to go far and he is going to break young girls heart.
