This is my favourite movie. It's perfect, I honestly think so. The characters are beautiful, the story is so amazing. I saw the movie only after seeing the musical (which is my absolute favourite!) and it just made it so special to me. Billy Elliot is just wonderful.

This was a well done feature which showed alot of inspiration and had a story to it. Billy Elliot was brought up by a father who was aggressive. Billy had gone many time after school to see a girls ballet class and teacher let him watch and he at first found it not easy but later Billy had gotten lessons from this teacher and he went to the classes and ended up being a success. The father did not want him to take this talent but it showed near the end that he was wrong and Billy Elliot ended up to be a very talented person who had won a scholorship. The father wanted Billy to take boxing not dancing but all in all the dancing turned to be a success.

This was a very touching film that shows how one in the family can underestimate anyone in the family and then see that the person can really show that he has what it takes when it comes to learning a new career that interested him although he was in a girls class at the beginning it took him awhile to learn but later on the teacher had understood that his dad had a drinking problem and was only in his own interest and was stricked and later once he had seen his son performed that he turned a different person especially when the son was accepted and got a scholarship in ballet which brought attention to many people.

Had seen this film a few times and was really inspired with the talent and how one boy who adored ballet and being attached to taking lessons to a wonderful teacher who had showed and understood the feelings as the father he had wanted him to become a different person. Billy had no intention becoming a boxer and had seen ways by watching one class and although it was not such an easy beginning, he managed to become quite successful. Later after father had an understanding as soon as he had seen the success he brought but Billy had it rough but things worked out for the better once he had proven to his dad and other people that parents should let the child to decide what there career is and not push them around.

This is one of my favourite movies of all time. A wonderfully done British film, the accents are so precise. Jamie Bell is an amazing dancer and actor. Julie Walters is superb. The cinematography is so crisp it feels real. And the story itself doesn't try to break down barriers and sterotypes, it succeeds!

Great film. A sensitive film about the struggles of a boy that doesn't quite fit in (he likes dancing rather than boxing) Nice show that shows kids it's ok to be your own person, too mature for young kids, but very watchable for teens and adults.

Wow, this was one amazing movie. It is so well done, and it has to do with the problems a young boy would have to go through to convice his dad especially that ballet is what he chooses to do. I love how it is set in England and not in the States, and how he makes his way slowely out of the old mining town. If you haven't seen it, go see it, it was trully worth the money.

I loved the movie Billy Elliot. It was a great movie, I got it on DVD and took it to work and watched it and my friend was like I not going to watch this gay movie about a boy that wants to dance but he ended up watching it with me and by the end he was like that was an excellent movie and he loved it. Too Many people critizize before the get the whole story and some dont end up watching because people don;t make them do it. But after they make you do it then your like this is great why was I such a stuborn person and not give this a chance before. I really like Jamie Bell and wish I had the energy to be that happy no matter what happened in my life. I would recommend it to all people. It would be a better movie if they could of cut out some of the language but over all It was great.

I think that Billy just wasn't a good dancer @ all! & that's all I have to say. I mean if there gonna do a movie about DANCING they should get somone who can DANCE!!! But ya that's all.

Oh, if only real life could turn out like this!! This was a terrific movie - the young lad's acting was outstanding, and the storyline was... well, plausible. If you want to feel good about who you are, then watch this movie.

Truly a great Film. The plot is predictable, but you would not want it to turn out any other way.

This movie was so incredibly touching and funny all at the same time. Somehow, there is some aspect of it that will touch a cord within everyone that watches it, regardless of how differnt their backgrounds may be. Even my boyfriend really enjoyed it, since he thought that it was a "girly" movie!

Okay to put it plainly... I can't stand any of the movies that my girlfriend chooses to watch. So last Friday I was dragged into this crammed theatre full of all sorts of walks of life... just to watch this so called "gay" movie about a boy who can coverted from boxing to dance. Well honestly, I was not thrilled to be there. However, by the time the lights had turned back on, and the curtain had closed, I had cried at least a dozen times. The movie is suberb. It touches every bone in your body, so that even by the time I was dropping off my girlfriend, I just wanted to shoot out of the car and dance all over the road and up the pavement. So, ladies and gentlemen and members of the jury, this movie is far from a sappy British comedy, it's a story that makes us all want to shout "GO BILLY! "

This is a beautiful aesthetic movie. Raw in its sentiment and filming, it is superbly acted and directed. Jamie Bell is a true professional and Julie Walters has proven once again that she surely deserves her star status. I seriously encourage people to take notice of Billy aged 25 at the end who is played by Adam Cooper. Ever wondered what he would look like in leather trousers, watch the vid of swan lake and you'll find out, it's just as amazing.

A wonderful movie. Superbly edited, and well acted. The juxtaposition of the violent confrontations of the miners' strikes and the ballet movements was thoughful and poignant. My stars were the old Granny suffering from Alzheimers, and young Michael, a kid struggling with his sexuality. One of the best of the recent movie crop.

I finally saw this movie the other night and am happy to say it totally lived up to the hype it's received over the last 6 months. It was clever, endearing and funny. It's a wonderfully illustrated story with a point. I am also pleased to have seen it on the big screen rather than on video.

This movie takes place in England, and was true-to-life in that it was about the struggle of a small town to overcome its destiny to limit the males futures to the mines. Catherine Cookson has written quite astutely about this situation, and the movie dealt with it humourously and graphically. Emancipation from this dreary life is hard-fought for the boys of this town, even as they try to deal with their own feelings of being different. Billy's father expects him to be a "certain way", and when he discovers a part of himself that doesn't want to conform to this standard, his father becomes very fearful and reacts in a typically violent way. My son was hoping that this wasn't a "sappy" movie in the beginning, and the struggle between Billy and his father was an education to him, and touched something inside him about his relationship with his own father. I recommend this movie to all "coming of age" teenagers, with the hope that they will follow their own hearts, and not be led by another's dreams.

I saw the movie Billy Elliot after my married daughter saw it twice. It is her favourite movie of all time. My English friend and I went together. We cried and laughed. We could identify with each person, the mother, the father, the brother, the dance teacher and especially Billy.

Hm... That's a really good movie. It's not for everyone - a boy likes dancing... But every actor/actress was so great! That's what makes it worth to see! Especially Jamie Bell... !

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.]
What a heartwarming movie. As I have a son who is about the age of Billy and loves to dance, it was very close to my heart. The kid gave a wonderful performance so did the dance teacher. One detail worth mentioning... two violent scenes (when the father strikes the older brother and when the horse goes over the body of a demonstrator) are not too graphic and overpowering, so it went well. I cannot stand violence nor blood, but the direction was so good that it did not linger on and left its imprint in a very subtle way. A funny scene is when the little girl walks by the policemen and "brushes" innocently her woodden stick against their shields without noticing.

Now I know why they named this movie Billy Elliot and not Billy SM-Elliot. (Smelliot - iot = SMELL) What I mean by this little play on words is that this movie did NOT smell. Maybe they should have named this movie Billy LOVE-liot. (Loveliot - ot = LOVELY) Whoever didn't like this movie should stop calling me Jennifer Leigh Perzow. And you can take that to the bank - SUCKA!

I just think being a balerina does not have to be a girl always, it's just the same for males. Isn't it? Well, at least this movie shows a great deal of courage in trying out the most prestigious dance school in London, UK. It's the best movie I have seen in years, well, compared to female dancers, there are lots of those movies, but not like this one!

Finally a superb movie from start to finish! Reality aside, it was a pleasure to watch a movie with a superb cast, excellent cinematography, and many underlying 'messages'. Once again, Hollywood has chosen to ignore what should be a shoo-in for Best Picture. For those who are waiting to view via video... You have lost out as this is definitely a 'big screen' event. In my books, this movie is without question an 11 out of 10 from start to finish.

Why do people say this is a chick flick? I guess it's because most men couldn't stomach the many raw, emotional moments in this movie (so much harder to watch than a mindless shoot-out movie). Too bad for them. I laughed, I cried, I felt alive, I saw it twice and I loved it!

Excellent! Apart from the obvious "follow your own heart" message, I thought the economic and social backdrop of the film superbly heightened Billy's conflict. That said, I have to confess that during the central dance sequence of Billy dancing on rooftops and in the streets left me agape for several minutes. The sheer beauty of his movements combined with the honesty and innocence that he so expertly depicts made watching the film an extremely heartwarming experience. Considering how "Gladiator" and "Erin Brockovich" are garnering nominations for major awards, this film deserves more attention.
