It is unfortunate that while so many people have enjoyed this film, the vast majority of them are focused on its "sweet" and innocent qualities. Like all good fables it has a far deeper meaning than its fairy tale surface would lead the viewer to believe at first glance. It is an extremely timely and very politicaly out spoken film that takes a hard look at the world today and the current American political landscape where George Bush and the religious right would like to tell us all how to live. Drawing on the fact that America was settled by people seeking refuge from such religous intolerance and that the American revolution reflected the revolution in France, this film takes note of what is occuring in the US today (as well as Quebec) and says "Hey! Wake up! It's not about exclusion. It's about tolerance and inclusion. " So I say to everyone out there who loved the film, you loved it not because it is sweet, you loved it because it speakes to your soul and your beliefs. Remember that the next time you are asked to vote!
