The way Tim Burton adds a creepy twist to the characters is amazing.

I knew I would like this film when I heard that Tim Burton directed it and I was right. Aside from the weird unnecessary dance that Mr. Depp does at the end I found myself entertained.

Disturbing as it has been for me but this version of Tim Burton was brilliantly done.

Must say I'm not a fan of this movie but it was very well done and well picked actors for this version.

I was quite surprised that I enjoyed it so much. I am not a huge fan of Tim Burton, but I just might become one.

Everybody saw Alice in Wonderland when he was young because it's a classic of children movies. But this year Timburton realised a new Alice in wonderland, a movie a little bite more scary that count the story of Alice that became older and that falls again in the burrow but instead of find a nice world she finds a world were everybody lives hide and afraid and she is the only one that can change it so she start a nice adventure were she meat all the nice characters of the old story like the hat maker , the mice, the cat, the rabbit and the hare that take the tea and the caterpillar, Absolem with the flowers. All these imaginative characters changer , the became sad and dull but they are even interesting and funny. Some of them who were real actors like Timburton’s wife that played the heart queen that was impossible to recognize in hat maker. They ware very good in there roles. At all I really liked this movie and I would give 9/10 for it because sometime it was a little long but it's the only thing I can say because it was magic, it really made me think I was in the story.

Outstanding , just incredibly well done. Definitely one of tim burtons best pictures.

Well, I was a bit dissapointed but it was maybe because I had high expectations. The imagery in the movie was excellent and that's the only thing that was! The way Burton used the lighting, the colors, the landscapes, that was beautiful. On the other hand we have a pretty just OK story with a few bumps in it that make the viewer snap out of the story! A few childlish scenes could have been removed, or better directed, still entertaining.

I was never a big fan of Alice in the wonderland so I was skeptical about the film but was I in for a big surprise because it was really good! Visually stimulating and the story keeps the essence of the original story and made it even better. The casts portrayed each character well but, personally, the white queen was a bit annoying if not funny with her excess of elegance. Lol.

I've never been a big fan of the Alice in Wonderland stories as a kid or an adult but this movie is the best version I've seen. The acting and special effects are very well done.

Pretty good. More for the kids than the adults, but a worthwhile choice.

Very good! Well done! But why do they call it, Alice in wonderland when it is a mix of movies?

Tim Burton is one of my favourite Directors, but I lost respect for him after this. The thing about Tim Burton is that he focuses too much on the set, makeup, and animation more than the story and script. The set, makeup and animation was good but the story and script were plain and boring. The acting wasn't all that good either. Really boring movie, it was way too over hyped. Tim Burton should make more movies like Beetlejuice and Edward Scissorhands. Classic. Alice is not worth paying for.

Tim Burton has taken Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland" and "AliceThrough the Looking Glass" and done a mash up of the two or rather a mish mash. The lead characters Alice/Mia W. (should be a model nice to look at but so dull as an actor}, Mad Hatter/J. Depp doing his usual scenery eating but Tim Burton has taken a vile lunatic and made him a multi personality, actually only two and both endearing, I think Tim Burton got confused and though he was making a garish Wizard of Oz. Other characters were quite well done with the Red Queen/H. Bonham-Carter, (not quite angry/crazy enough) but great visual effect; the White Queen/Anne Hathaway sorry much too young and pretty for the daffy old dear, Tweedledee& Tweedledum/Matt Lucas just perfect, White Knight/Matt Frewer excellent. Animated caracters; the Jabberwocky perfect, the March Hare very good seems to have inherited some of the Hatters' madness and utterly incoherent, Dormouse fisty, nice to know Barbra Windsor still working and doing character parts to a "t" or rather tea. Worth one view but that's all.

Johnny Depp was terrible. He didn't look like he was even trying. This movie is horrible.
| 3/10 | corinnemclean@ - 3 reviews 16.6.2010 - age: 1-12 |
Oh what a disappointment this movie was! I was really hoping to get into it and like it, but alas, it never grew on me. You really never get attached to any of the characters and you frankly don't care what happens to them. I was just waiting for it to be OVER.
| 4/10 | rachellebergeron@ - 7 reviews 4.6.2010 - age: 26-35 |
My god. I don't understand most of these replies. The movie was boring, predictable, and way too long. Tim Burton has succeeded in proving yet again not only is he in love with Johnny Depp, but he has not had an original thought in years.

As a fan of Lewis Carroll's "Alice in Wonderland" and "Through the Looking Glass", I appreciated Tim Burton's take on this classic fantasy realm - he certainly put his own unique stamp on it: a very imaginative landscape, like stepping into a sometimes dark, but often whimsical Surrealist painting. Enjoyable, well-cast (Helena Bonham-Carter, Johnny Depp and Alan Rickman are ideal as the Queen of Hearts, Mad Hatter and Caterpillar) and although written more like a sequel to the original Alice in Wonderland than a live-action "reboot" of the story like I originally expected, I felt that the plot and dialogue fit perfectly with Carroll's vision of his world.

Nice version of AIW. Found it interesting (for a children's story) Again; TB did a good job and his sidekick JD played his character very well. It's amazing how he seems to fit into roles that you wouldn't think he fits! All around good movie...

I am a HUGE fan of the Tim Burton/Johnny Depp team so when I heart about this movie, I was ECSTATIC. Tim Burton is my favourite director and Johnny Depp is my favourite actor. I have seen every movie they did together and Alice in Wonderland did not disappoint me. I am FURIOUS at myself for not seeing it in 3D because I think that would have been an amazing experience. This movie was both funny and witty as well as unbelievably creepy, disturbing, and a tad phsychotic. Mia did a good job as Alice and Johnny made a very funny Mad Hatter. It was sort of embarassing for me to see a beautiful, talented actress like Anne Hathaway in a role that was sort of small and completely lacked depth. Also, the movie's plotline was fairly predictable and the over-all moral of the story was so typical. Still, Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland will not upset fans (just bring some snacks because it is a long watch.) Oh, and Avril Lavigne's song in the credits was very good and catchy. ^.^ Overall, it's a great movie.

A fantastical journey for a seventeen-years-old girl named Alice who fall down a rabbit hole into a fantasy world populated by anthromorphic creatures. I was pleased to see the Dodo: a large, clumsy bird, now extinct, with wings too small for flight. That flightless bird was last found, in the 17th century, on the Island of Mauritius (Ile Maurice) in the Indian Ocean...

This is a delightful, very unusual and satisfying movie -- whimsical and imaginative as well. I loved it!! Casting is perfection -- Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter both so incredible. Had not heard of Mia Wasikowska before, and she's terrific! Lovely to see Alice all grown up. Three cheers to Tim Burton!

Character development was quite poor in my opinion and the plot seemed vaguely interesting considering the possibilities for strong character depth seemed promising.

I found Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland" wasn't all that I thought it would be, and I had expected so much more. Even though, this wasn't such a bad movie, the media hype went a bit overboard making this production seem bigger than it actually was. One good thing though I will say are about the film's visuals, they are incredibly stunning, no one can deny that. I felt that the story was lacking a little something, but not to say it wasn't lively or that it didn't keep my attention, just that it could've held a lot more substance and continuity. When viewing this movie you get the twists and darkness that you would expect from a Tim Burton film, yet there is something extra there which is a little different from his usual style. Johnny Depp put in mediocre performances at best as the Mad Hatter, unlike some of his better acting roles that we've come to admire. However, other acting performances had a bit more pep to them. I thought Helena Bonham Carter did a great job with the Red Queen's character. I found her to be rather humorous at times because she was so prudish and quick-witted. Also, Mia Wasikowska was a good choice for the role of Alice and I would have to say the same for Anne Hathaway for her performance as the White Queen. I even liked TweedleDum and TweedleDee and thought Matt Lucus played the part of both characters well. Keep in mind though that this movie is not actually Alice In Wonderland, but a sequel to the original story titled, Through The Looking Glass. It's an altogether different tale about Alice's return to Wonderland. Overall, don't go to this flick with high expectations, and you won't be disappointed, take it for what it is and be entertained.

I loved the original cartoon which was a million times better. This film had the potential to be magnificent, however was mediocre at best. Thank god for Jonny Depp!!!

Visually imaginative and interesting, despite the 'dumbing down' of the story to make it fit Holywood stereotypes. Depp and Hathaway's acting is very superficial and ultimately bad. The girl playing Alice, however, is a finding. Worth seeing in the big screen because of the decor - but don't expect many credible emotions happening here!

A definite buy. At the least, rent it on DVD. It might be a little scary for children under 10 or so, but all in all a good movie. Better than I thought it would be.

First, this is the worst modern 3D I have ever seen. It felt like everything was filmed in a miniature. Now, as all the actors did a very respectful job and some animations like the fat boys where excellent, I felt the final product lacking in many points. This was (sadly) a hit and miss.

I Would give it a 10 but there's just something holding me back... I think it was a little overrated but I Love the story of Alice in wonderland and this tim burton movie was amazing. Tim Burton continues to amaze us with his skiills and an wonderful cast, filled with newcoomer Mia Wakikowska, and Johnny Depp as the mad hatter, Anne Hataway as the white queen and Helena Bonham Carter as the red queen, and of course Alan rIckman as the cheshire cat. In my Opinion two harry potter stars, and other a list actors make this movie amazing completed with graphics that are actually beelivable and amazing 3-D... alice in wonderland... a classic.
