I enjoyed Inescapable for the most part. I reach for an easy comparison when I say it's a "Canadian" version of 'Taken'. It has less action, and understandably so given its limited budget, but manages to develop its suspense in a more classical way, relying more on its setting, small cast of characters and musical score to create a menacing atmosphere. The film is well done and I would recommend it to anyone who might enjoy watching a story about a desperate father trying to find his missing daughter despite all odds.

Can't decide if it's a character piece or an action movie. The protagonist is inactive and ineffective. He's also under developed as a character and has no arc. I liked this film better when it was called Taken.

This was incredible - A Canadian-made look at another area of the world, free of Hollywood additions and stock background. The very first line spoken tells the father his daughter is missing; no 20-minute background buildup of the happy family before she leaves. Then it's straight into where the search for her begins; and the culture, scenery, assumptions and expectations are all built with a subtle (Canadian, again) humour while tension and mystery expands. Beautifully done.

Good movie. Good pace and action throughout and an interesting storyline. Worth seeing.

I love it, so emotional and a great thriller. Little action in the end, terrific story.

Better movie than I was expecting. Good thriller movie. I think sometimes that the low budget movies are better than the big budget movies, concentrating more on the storyline and characters than special effects and 3D. Siddig, Tomei, etc. were all good in their roles.

More thriller than action movie. Well paced, some questionable dialogue, well acted.

A great story that was told brilliantly with great acting. I really liked the performances Saad Siddiqui who plays "Halim" and seems to be a great up and coming actor, and Marisa Tomei. This is a great story and I'm glad it wasn't an all action film, or just a love story. This was a realistic story that can happen. It doesn't fit just any genre of film.

Realistic movie about the Middle east. They filmed the movie last year so there is nothing about the revolution going on these days.

I found the movie to be refreshing. It's not a flashy Hollywood movie that depends on special effects. It's well produced and written, with excellent actors. The story line was quite plausible and believable. This is a movie I would recommend for anyone.

Outstanding. Fascinating look at intrigue in Syria and wonderful performances by all... this was a low budget canadian film?!!! Blew me away!

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie, the story line and the plot. Tension maintained throughout. Violence portrayed seems to be in keeping with what is expected.

The good part about this film was the performances of both Alexander Siddig and Marisa Tomei. Also, the music score was terrific as was the South Africa set acting as Damacas. The bad was the action sequences or lack of. I'm sure the small budget has a lot to do with it.

I though it was a good movie. Enjoyed the acting from Marisa Tomei and Alexander Siddig. It kept my attention until the end.

Taut dramatic thriller set in Syria. Well acted by Alexander Siddig, Marissa Tomei and Joshua Jackson. Tomei in the role of a Syrian woman was clever and surprising casting. The pacing was excellent and I was completely caught up in the story, which was well written. I would definitely recommend this movie.

Good story, good cast, but klunky script and parts of the story not very believable such as - if there were 15 different secret police operating in Damascus, how come they could not find the main character who seemed to come and go as he pleased. No real tension between Siddig and Tomei. The issue of spying for Israel was not well enough developed and would have been so interesting in view of current issues in the middle east.

Good story for the times. The scenery was wonderful. South Africa makes a good Damascus.
