If a movie about being widowed can be rollicking fun, then this one is it. The casting is superb. The personalities propel out of the screen. Even though these are faces we know very well, there is fresh life in them. There is a lot of humor and not at all in the tradition of sitcom TV. The plot is complex but not unrealistic or improbable. Both my spouse and I were widowed when young. So there is a lot of well-known ground for us here, and it is handled very compassionately and with a beautiful touch. For those who care about a deeper meaning the story line and the fine characters acting in it remind us that a good life is all OK, but our survivors oblige us to have a good death as well, or as much of one as falls within our control.
