If you are familiar with Owen Wilson's basic comedic character and you enjoy him doing that, this movie is definitely for you. The movie starts out as "Wedding Crashers" meets "Old School" but thankfully takes a turn in a slightly more serious direction which pays off. Matt Dillon is very good as the harried new husband who has to deal with the complications of an overly posessive father-in-law (Michael Douglas), a well-meaning friend, Dupree (Wilson) who invariably wreaks havoc despite his good intentions and a confused wife (Hudson) who doesn't understand why he won't talk to him about his problems. Kate Hudson's role is initially one dimensional but takes shape once she begins to see the light-hearted qualities of Dupree are things that have been dimininshing in her husband. Fewer big laughs than some of Wilson's recent movies but a sweet story all the same. Not great, but a "Good movie, worth seeing", hence the 7.
