World War Z

I decided on a whim to go see this film, not knowing what the outcome would be, but I was quite impressed to say the least. However, I'll admit that I didn't care for the first few opening scenes... all that rapid, blurry activity. It made my head whirl, but after that things started to pick up, and before I knew it... I was immersed into the story. World War Z has an interesting premise, different from your average zombie flick, and surprisingly entertains. There are some highly suspenseful moments throughout, a few times I even jumped. The action is great... keeps your focus and eyes on the screen till the end. Liked the acting too. Enjoyed Brad Pitts performance... he's great as always, and quite versatile as an actor... so hats off to him. Of course, the other cast members did a fine job at playing their roles. As for the zombies in the movie, they were genuinely creepy, grotesque, and realistic. Amazing visual effects for bringing these hordes of creatures to life. I found too that this picture wasn't too gory, just more fast-moving action and building tension. Personally, I thought it had an exciting climax, although certainly not what I expected. The solution to stop the zombie virus was compelling if not a bit far-fetched, but then it is a Sci-Fi horror flick after all. Also, I must confess, I haven't read the book "World War Z" by Max Brooks, although I've heard that this movie is an adaptation and is nothing like the original story. May have to read the book sometime out of curiosity. Overall, great summer blockbuster... don't miss it.
