I just saw this movie and I have to tell you I was not impressed. The previews were very misleading and portrayed a film that was exciting and action-packed, which it certainly was not. I'd say after half an hour of this film is when I realized that it wasn't all that it was cracked up to be. The whole time you are just waiting for something to happen. It's so anticlimactic. Unfortunately, I think they could of done things differently to make this picture a whole lot better. This movie was as slow moving as molasses, boring, nothing original as far as I could see, just a messed-up plot with everyone speaking in muffled tones during intervals. It's not to say I didn't like any of the actors, they're all wonderfully talented, but this clearly wasn't their best work. Mark Wahlberg is missing in action for a good part of the movie, and doesn't deliver much motivation, not to mention, Joaquin Phoenix who appears drugged up most of the time. Eva Mendes, is really hot... no complaints there. However, not all was a flop, the dramatic intense, car chase helped to sustain the movie and gave it the boost it needed. All in all, it is no where near as good as the "God Father" or "The Departed" or even "Scarface", trust me. If you still must see "We Own the Night", then don't expect too much, and you won't be disappointed.
