If you are a big Oliver Stone fan, you may very well be disappointed by this one. It doesn't feel as grand and as fine-tuned as most of his previous movies. Maybe he did unpurpose as a little jab to W not being worthy of the same efforts and lengths than his previous titles (Nixon and JFK come to mind)? This wasn't a bad movie per say, but it certainly drags in several parts. The pace and editing isn't as top notch as his previous flicks, and the running time is quite short (even though the movie seems long at times) That being said, Josh Brolin is simply spectacular as W. I never knew that he could be a character/caricature actor, but he pulls it off with flying colors. After his great performance in "No Country for Old Men" and now his excellent turn as W, Brolin is definitely on his way to the top of the A list. So, all in all, this movie should have been much better. I couldn't help and feel that this movie may have been rushed, done quickly. And I can only blame Stone for this less than stellar look at W's rise and struggles. I certainly learned a lot about W, and Stone actually did succeed in making people feel bad for the man... but it wasn't enough to garner anything higher than a 6/10 on my scale... and most of that is thanks to Brolin's incredible performance.
