Despite all the sharp/dark humour (and satire of the film movie), this film (essentially a vehicle for Steve Coogan and Rob Bryden)is really like the old Seinfeld TV series: it's all about nothing. While this worked for the first 30-45 minutes, it eventually loses momentum and becomes rather tedious. And this is unfortunate, because Steve Coogan and Rob Bryden are very good comedians.
