As an academic exercise, this film is definitely worth seeing. It is simply fascinating to see the depth and intricacies of putting on a major stage production; truly mind-boggling. Certainly, there is no arguing the vast talent Jackson possessed, but there is no new insight into who this terribly troubled, fragile-yet-capable, certifiably insane man really was. In that sense, the film is unsatisfying. This film is simply a tribute, nothing more. I hope that some day, a talented producer will engage more of the truth about the man who was indicted on 10 criminal counts, (some of which are horrendous) after an exhaustive Grand Jury investigation. I suspect that, like OJ, the truth will come out in dribs and drabs over the next few years until everyone recognises Michael Jackson as a truly dichotomous being; possessed of great warmth, and tremendous darkness simultaneously. In the meantime, if you want to see a 'how-to' on massively complicated stage productions, see this film. Enjoy.
