The great Robert Altman gave us a whole new movie making experience and theme with 'Thieves like Us' from the seventies. It's astounding how he was able to go from one genre to the next without repeating himself. This 1930's crime caper with regular Altman stars Keith Carradine and Shelley Duval is an engaging, really good film. I think, however, the problem with the film and its little success is that there were too many films on bank-robbing criminals that took root from the 60's Bonnie and Clyde on. It's really too bad because this is top-rated cinema Altman style.
