I thought this movie was exceptionally chilling. It was everything I expected and more. The storyline definitely has all the elements for a harrowing experience that we hope would never happen to us. It leaves one thinking uneasily "Just how safe are we really in the comfort of our own homes? " Also, it's difficult to imagine what anyone would do if they were put in such a predicament, knowing that someone was trying to mess with their heads and terrorize them for no apparent reason. What makes this movie even more disturbing and realistic is that the tormentors were fixated on killing this young couple in the home. I was totally gripping the arms of my seat during the entire picture, until I felt that the whites of my knuckles must be turning a deep purple. As far as the plot goes, it is pretty straight forward, and easy to follow, though gripping at the same time. The acting is highly believable and top notch. The mood in this film is also eerily fitting, while the background music is undeniably creepy. There is not really too much gore in this movie except for one scene that will obviously stand out to the viewer. I can tell you though there are plenty of scares throughout, and moments where you will be unexpectedly caught off guard. You have been warned. This movie may even give some people nightmares, and have them checking under beds, behind doors, and in closets after they come home from the theater. All in all," The Strangers" really delivers an electrifying punch and gives new meaning to the word terror. Two thumbs way up.
