I went into this movie having next to no idea what it was about. What I got was a great movie with an incredible performance by Kate Winslet! Needless to say, she deserves the accolades and awards she has garnered for her role. This is a great movie about a touchy subject. It's a beautiful movie, but also a very sad movie as well. It's a touching story and it's very well all brought together by very good directing. And the main actors shine in their roles (Winslet of course, but also David Cross and Ralph Fiennes as young and old versions of the same character) I can give this one a solid 8/10 without any hesitation. Don't miss it if you like nice period movies with great stories to tell. There is a fair bit of nudity in the movie, but it is very well presented. It's not gratuitous and unnecessary, like in many movies.
